White House to Sen. Byrd- 'Do It Again, Please' (USS Lincoln Complaining) [Excerpt from The Note]
ABC News ^ | May 8, 2003 | Marc Armbinder

One Democrat moaned yesterday as he watched the cable news programs replay hours of footage of President Bush on the carrier with audio about Democratic complaints.

'Im watching him get high fived and buzz the tower again,' the Democrat said. 'The White House should have thought of this controversy themselves!'

Democratic questions about Bush's jet landing made the front page of USA Today complete with the 'Fly Boy' photo that will have Mike Deaver smiling.

Along these lines, a Senior Administration Official told the ABC Political Unit 'The more time the President talks about defense and security issues, the more he hurts Democrats and reinforces the public's positive perceptions of the Presdient.'

'Do it again, do it again is our message to Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia.'

The Democrats are doing things to make their base happy, but alienating the center of the electorate.

Having Maxine Waters as spokeswoman of the Dims is a good thing indeed.

That is where the Dim party is headed- they might as well start practicing now for 2008 when the Red Queen becomes the nominee..

It is just too easy, kind of like reverse jujitsu and the Dims can't help themselves-the photo op drove them crazy!

I get this vision of Byrd dancing around shooting at first one foot then the other. My Lord, this is a classic moment. These people are so anxious to say anything about GW that they don't even stop to think of the possible effect of it. Go Waxman. Here, investigate this(international hand signal indicating disdain and general disgust).

What Leno is getting is that pro-Bush, anti-'Rat humor is popular. He and Letterman are cultural weathervanes, and the 'Rats are beside themselves that they've lost control of the culture.

Now, now. Let's not bash the old Wizard too hard here. It was just too much for him to take. President Bush, in flight gear, looking GOOD, being loved and adored by all those military people, having defeated a Nazi/Stalinist regime, and landing on a carrier with the Namesake of the President who freed black people. It was too much for his already frazzled synapses and he went into meltdown.

This would be too much to ask for. This is almost as good as.......well, not quite, but damn near it. Did you by any chance seee/hear anything about a dummied up list of 9-11 victim families visited by Bruno?

This is all too good. I just hope they keep on digging the hole they're standing in.

They just lie about everything, don't they?

That's what makes them "them."

Even when the commie media runs a negative story on this incident, the powerful pictures of Bush being genuinely loved by the troops overwhelms the negative chatter.

This is a losing proposition for the Dems.

The Dims learned nothing from their 2002 experience when the voters whacked 'em for opposing the Prez on national security issues.

The more liberal Democrats think they lost because they didn't oppose Bush enough. The less liberal ones think they lost because they opposed him too much. The few smart ones realize that, when your opponent is popular with both his base and swing voters, there's really nothing you can do except hope that either he somehow self-destructs, or something outside his direct control (like the economy) brings him down. It sucks to be a Democrat these days.
