There are reports tonight that the Canadian government is sending a light brigade group to Afghanistan unarmed due to some technicality of Canadian law.

This is just a mis-understanding. You have heavy armour outfits, you have artillery units, you have light infantry and this is the "hand-to-hand" combat unit.
