I can handle Lucas and Speilberg, Speilberg got right on the war.

Ford?...sorry....he's no different than Ed Harris or Nick Nolte. We avoid him. Shame.

and it was close to the last time any of them made a movie worth the time watching it...especially Ford. The new Star Wars hides a lack of plot behind special effects. Speilberg's AI was devoid of anything interesting, and Ford (with the exception of Air Force 1) can't seem to choose a movie that anyone else wants to see (or would reccomend after being suckered into it).

I've had them on DVD from Asia for a while, but Asian DVD video quality is poor (lots of compression artifacts). I'm not sure why...the disks are DVD-9's (2-layer) so it's not that they need to skimp on bits.

It'll be nice to get the ones made here in the USA.

Can't wait until we see the new scene in the Cairo marketplace where instead of shooting the sword-wielding bad guy Indy instead karate chops him (or some such nonsense - see Greedo shooting first, or FBI agents with badges instead of guns in ET).

Not to be picky, but I think you're only partly right.

1) The first one was great... no doubt about it.
2) The second was not (& I don't think it held a candle to the first).
3) The third was a retread of the first (i.e. make the Nazi's the villians again.... a sure-fire formula)

In fact, I think the Back To the Future followed in the same footsteps. First one is ground-breaking, second is too dark, doesn't sell as well, and the third retreads alot of the first.

Btw, the opening scenes from UHF (that crumby Al Yankovich film), had a hilarious parody of the first Indy film. Worth seeing just that 5 minutes.

Bout damn time! Raiders is my movie flick ever and I've only once seen it in widescreen. When I was in college I took a course called the films of Steven Spielberg, and my professor managed to get a bootleg copy of a 2.35:1 Raiders. Since then, its been nothing but my VHS that I bought in 1989 with money from my piggy bank.

While I welcome the Indy movies (long overdue, IMHO) there are DVD's that haven't been released that are available on VHS, and LaserDisk that I have been patiently waiting for. Un-edited Bugs Bunny (Elmer Fudd, Road Runner, Foghorn Leghorn ect, al). Some of the funniest cartoons were done in the late 40's and into the late 50's. Yet, these are available only in VHS format. I want a library of these classics on DVD!

What I want is a compilation of the "Young Indiana Jones" installments from television. Those were fabulous. I liked 'em better than the movies, in fact.

Harrison Ford's Clinton-worshiping leftism is par for the course for Hollywood, but is still disappointing considering his reputation as a decent and hard-working guy who worked as a carpenter prior to his breakthrough in Star Wars. He really ought to know more about the real world than the typical perfumed princes and princesses of the entertainment world.

The DVD's may be overdue, but sorry - the comments here are correct. This isn't Breaking News. Front Page, maybe, more likely Extended or the Smokey Backroom. But not Breaking.

The first one was one of the best ever produced in the history of American film. 2 and 3 were OK at best and compared to the brilliance of the first rather weak and unworthy. I'm hoping the forth will allow the series to end on a high note but I doubt it, if it's good and makes money they'll make more and they'll suck. The only way the series ends on a high note is if the 4th movie is good but unpopular, then they won't make more.
