What a bunch of BS...A 'sonar' [which is basically a side scanning directable bottom pinger]...could no more tell a body from a log, a sturgeon...our a mound of mud.
As to 'troller' disloging it that is bunk as well. A 'troller' is a hook fishermen...now a Trawler is somthing different. A bottom draggin net fishermen is a trawler.
The water in the area ranges from 20 to 0 feet and is a perfectly flat bottom.
Its not to deep...In fact in much of the area you can get out an walk at low tide.
I know this body of water well and have fished it for thousands of hours.
This is pure BS

Agree- BS.
Additionally my navigation charts all show depths at mean low water. Even shipping channels. Anything else is useless.

Begging your pardon, how can the depth vary if the bottom is perfectly flat?
Is the surface wavy?

Furthemore, since Scott is already in custody, what would the PD gain by fabricating a story like this!?!

This is pure BS I am sure the media has garbled things, and there is some CYA from the police for not trying to check out the blip on the sonar, but I still think the story really means they have found the drum and weights.

When Flight 800 went down, they called the Navy in with their best, to search the debris field. They found the flight data recorder on the first pass - in 13,000 feet of water.
I worked on pre-amps for these things over 25 years ago and we could map oyster beds in the Chesapeake Bay.

I looked in vain for a map of San Francisco Bay showing the Southampton Shoal Channel. Phooey.

Even if they can't tell a body from a log it was probably worth investigating. About the right size, about the right shape...
Your data that the water in the area is shallow makes the notion that it was disturbed by a passing boat more credible to me.
As someone who knows the area well, what's your take on this?

I remember a report about them searching the bay, like back in January, and they said that a suspicious object had been found, and then .........the sound of silence. Absolutely no follow at all.
Anybody else remember that censorship?
