Additionally my navigation charts all show depths at mean low water. Even shipping channels. Anything else is useless.

How can the depth vary if its flat?

A wall is as flat as a ceiling or floor...

And the the bottom is flat as a pancake...some ripples here and there...but basically flat..think inclinded plane...

I didn't say it was horizontal or level...I just said it was 'flat' [featurless]
