MSNBC REPORTING LACI'S BODY FOUND BY SONAR IN MID MARCH

MSNBC reporting that police had found the body of Laci back in mid March by using Sonar. It looked to be wrapped; it was not accessable; it was in very dark murky water; sonar team found; only 4 miles from where ScottyBoy was fishing. But a ship or troller moving through the channel displaced it - then washed up on shore almost ? 3 weeks later. Developing.

Watch Rita Cosby at 6 pm ET on Fox. They are hinting at new info to come out. Maybe the same as MSNBC.

Modesto Police Chief Roy Wasden confirmed investigators believe they found the body as early as mid-March, but could not retrieve it. "The waves came up and we couldn't go down. I can't tell you the frustration we felt," Wasden said.

If true, I can't believe the chief would admit this incompetance. The waves have not been "up" for the month between mid-March and when the bodies washed up.

If body was dumped four miles from the Berkeley Marina, where Scott launched his boat, it seems that would indicate it was less likely that he committed the crime. His boat was small, the water rough, and four miles is a long way to travel under those conditions. I'll bet his lawyer will pick up on this.

It seems to me that if the police want to nail him, they have to come up with evidence of the murder taking place in the house.

I don't like Scott at all, but I'm trying to think like a lowyer here. Too bad Marsha Clark cannot be the prosecutor. She's still angry abut losing the OJ case and would pack everything she had into this case. She's smart and tough..and is showing up on shows like Access Hollywad as a commentator on the Peterson case. Clearly, she believes Scott is guilty.

Here's probably what this story should say: Police find what looks to be body in mid March, police over look it, and move on. Of course, hindsight is always 20/20.

Actually, by 8 months she should have had at least one sonogram. Whether or not she had the more sophisticated tests done I don't know. My kids are teenagers, but I have sonogram pics of them both. Some places let you have the video if you want.

I vaguely remember hearing the story in question. They spotted something on the bottom but for some reason, nigtfall, rough water etc., they had to leave. They were unable to return the next day or whenver they did return they could not find the object.

A 'sonar' [which is basically a side scanning directable bottom pinger]...could no more tell a body from a log, a sturgeon...our a mound of mud.

Beg to disagree. With today's towed side-scan sonars, with post-processing get terrific resolution.

When Flight 800 went down, they called the Navy in with their best, to search the debris field. They found the flight data recorder on the first pass - in 13,000 feet of water.

I worked on pre-amps for these things over 25 years ago and we could map oyster beds in the Chesapeake Bay.

IF they did find those items, heh heh, he is TOAST.

You may know for sure, but I think 55gal. barrels are serial numbered now in case they are found full of toxic waste and have to be tracked.

If it was his barrel, and she really was found in the clothes she had been wearing on the 23rd, that should wrap things up even in Kalifornia.

How can the depth vary if its flat?

A wall is as flat as a ceiling or floor...

And the the bottom is flat as a pancake...some ripples here and there...but basically flat..think inclinded plane...

I didn't say it was horizontal or level...I just said it was 'flat' [featurless]

My theory posted on these threads in the early days of the case were as follows:

He didnt fish at all. He went to dispose of the body...and this is how he did it...

He did'nt dump the body in deep water...he went into shallow water and burried it in the mud...with weight...

And...he did so in the lee of Brooks Is....

I remarked that they should look for the body at low tide when the flats were exposed. That they should look for depression in the mud or disturbance in the mud far from shore...they should investigage the most recent prop scratches on the mud flat...the tell tale sign a small boat has navigated in the shallow flats is the prop chop line in the mud...That they should look in the intake strainer on the outboard for clam shells and debris...

I still hold that this is what he did. If he had dug the hole deep enough and had all night, this body would have never been found...

The article says they could not get the body at that time. I do not find this surprising. At the time we were discussing the technology they have that can do these things. This actually explains a lot of the actions of the authorities after this.

I think if the bodies had not turned up, this arrogant chump would eventually have been driven by his ego to brag about getting away with this crime to SOMEBODY, and he would have been caught. He really hasn't shown a great deal of intelligence at any point in this process.

3d ultrasound - sometimes refered to as 4d when they have real time imaging.

My wife and I are expecting twins and have had 3d ultrasounds done several times. To be honest, you usually see the best case images as examples. I haven't been as impressed with some of our images. We've have high res 2d scans done where I felt like I could understand what I was looking at better.

I don't know enough about this to form an opinion, but a lot of people seem to think the husband did it.

I wonder why, even early on when there was no body, the police focused on him as the likely suspect. Instinct?
