Dobbs: First Joe, I don't flaunt a flag pin... I simply wear one. But I want to answer your question, because others have asked as well.

I have gone through about 7 or 8 flag pins since 9-11. With the exception of a few days rushing out of the house (I do have 3 boys) I have worn one everyday. Last summer, I think people were curious as to why I always did, but I did. I am proud of America, I support America, and I will not back down nor apologize for it.
Hooray for Lou Dobbs. Journalists have to give both sides of the story, but it doesn't mean that one side isn't wrong. They seem to forget that. In their quest for 'objectivity' they forget they don't have to portray both sides as equal. Or one side as wrong because it is right and good, and bigger and stronger.
I am shocked CNN allowed that.

I may have to revisit my opinion of Dobbs.

Dobbs is very pro-business pro-democracy and pro America. When I was employes by Arthur Andersen he defended Andersen tooth and nali to the bitter end as 85,000 employees were not to blame for the collapse of Enron.

Good on Dobbs!!! See, that's what is so great about conservatives. WE give kudo's even to people from the "other" side when they do something right.

I also wear it to make clear to my viewers around the world that I am not an objective, neutral journalist on the issue of this country and American interests. If that offends anyone, so be it.Amen to that.

"...why are you and many others, including the president, still flaunting a flag pin on your lapel? ..." Joe, San Francisco Flaunting? Flaunting!!..American is the home of the brave so that You, Joe can be free
To be perfectly honest, I do wonder why anyone, in this country or anywhere else, would be offended by a little flag pin on a lapel. Maybe because it represents such a very big idea. It makes you wonder.
Amen...
...hear that Joe? ...I wonder too Joe!!

CNN or not....tip my hat to Dobbs.
I too, have worn a pin since 9/11. And will continue to
wear one. I started wearing it for a nation gathered in
mourning. Over the course of time, well, it has come to
mean a great many things.
Let me take a moment to share just one...
One day last year my co-workers and I stopped at a
favorite gathering place after work . It was the
holiday season and the place was quite crowded.
After having settled in to our usual seats a very nice
person approached me. After a moments pause she held
out her hand. Not quite sure what was happening, I
shook her hand. Upon that she said, "Mam, I am in the Navy.
Thank you for wearing that." And she glanced to my flag
pin. "You don't know how that makes me feel." With that
she smiled and walked away.
One aspect of something so small...
I wear this pin everyday.

I am getting fed up with this leftist canard about "objective" media reporting. How objective is the average newsie on the abortion question?
But let us posit the following question:
If "objective" and "international" journalists, like say Christiane Amanpour, are about to be shot by Iraqi Fedayeen Saddam (or other bad guys somewhere in the world), should a group of Army Rangers witnessing the ambush stand pat in order to help the journalists "maintain their objectivity?" After all, we don't want to have the journalists having to thank the U.S. Army for saving their hides.
Idiots.
