The "announcement", from what I have read in various Israeli accounts, are subtle: looking way too nervous for the circumstances, bulky or inappropriate winter jackets (which would automatically make most of the gang members here suspects of course), tossing the equivalent of $5 for a dollar bus toll and not interested in getting any change, etc.

"How does this happy circumstance prevent a suicide bomber from accomplishing his deed?"

Maybe they can shoot him, preferably before he sets the bomb off?

OK.

So, how do they know to shoot *THIS* guy over here and not *THAT* guy over there?

Post 5. Basically, he bemoans the lack of armed citizens in California, as if the presence of armed citizens would stop someone intent on suicide...

His statement didn't suggest CCW would prevent suicide bombings. He only pointed out the fact that most citizens don't have the option of defending themselves in Cali, if the chance were to arise.

if you get the 72 virgins when you blow yourself up, how come these people don't wait untill they are old before they do it?

Because the older you are when you off yourself, the older the virgins are. But what they don't understand -- it's not 72 virgins to begin with; it's a 72-year-old virgin.

The US hasn't yet been hit by suicide bombers yet but there have been several mass shootings that have been stopped by armed citizens. There have also been several bombers in Isreal stopped by armed citizens and, as previously noted, the terrorists were forced to change tactics when they originally started attacking Israeli schools with gunfire and were repeled by armed citizens. So it seems armed citizens do prevent/stop some mass attacks and more importantly, no one has cited any negative effects of arming citizens so why not give each citizen the choice to carry or not?

All this is moot in Calif anyway as only well connected politicians and celebrities are granted permits to carry weapons.

You've made my point--except for the part about stretching a point too far. We aren't allowed the same level of intellectual laziness that the left is.

It's not like muslim teachers of the whaddis sect aren't teaching american kids (muslims) in their schools all over the USA to hate America.

Look, first of all if this was a widespread thing it would be all over the news.

Second, I think we ought to worry less about what some Muslim religious school is teaching, and concentrate on the hateful rhetoric of the Left in this country that has spawned these anti-American protestors, and kids like Rachel Corrie.

AND IT STARTS VERY YOUNG.

An alert customer shot dead a terrorist who tried to set off an explosive device in a supermarket a few minutes ago in Efrat. The town is in Gush Etzion, a block of Jewish communities in Judea, south of Bethlehem.

At least one small explosion did take place, leaving one customer lightly wounded but causing no casualties, said Jerusalem Post reporter Margot Dudkevitch. Nails from one of the explosions littered the floor.

Further tragedy was averted when a woman shopping in the packed supermarket apparently saw the terrorist trying to set off a second explosion and shot him twice in the head from close range.

A police source told Israel Radio the terrorist apparently intended to detonate a small bomb in the supermarket and then blow himself up with the explosive belt when police forces came to the scene.

The terrorist was a Palestinian who had a permit allowing him to work in Efrat, Israel Radio reported. Sources in Bethlehem revealed the terrorist was Muhammad Ashimali, 22, from the village Adoha, south of Bethlehem.

Ashimali wanted to be a martyr, his father said.

I wasnt speaking about the color of the neighborhood, just its reputation. It used to be (and yes, its been a few years since I'v been there) a very high crime area, very poor and run down. I meant to infer nothing more then that.

...first of all if this was a widespread thing it would be all over the news.

You mean like the "widespread looting" in iraq (which, eyewitness accounts show, is not NEARLY as bad as the media would have you believe, but that's ANOTHER story) is all over the news? No, I don't believe it would be, because it isn't politically correct to point out that a religion-based (islamic or any other) private school in this country is teaching hate, ESPECIALLY when one considers the biases of the "mainstream" news media!

Nevertheless, it IS happening, at EVERY whaddis (sp?) islamic school in America (and anywhere else in the world), and no amount of wishful thinking can change this unfortunate truth.

In addition to this, however, you make an excellent point regarding "the hateful rhetoric of the Left in this country that has spawned.....anti-American protestors." I concur with you that this is a significant problem, as well! Not to make light of it, because, again, I think you are dead accurate, at least THIS type of hate doesn't end up with the haters blowing themselves up as they try to kill infidels around them (at least, not YET)!

Stay vigilent, stay armed, and never trust a muslim or a liberal, because both are terrorists, differing amongst themselves only in weaponry and technique!

Okay, so you're saying that we aren't hearing the truth, nevertheless it's happening.

What is the basis for your assertion?

Do you have ANYTHING other than your blind distrust of any and all things "Islam" on which to base this assertion?

Seriously, please enlighten me.

A kidnapped mother and daughter were rescued and a suspect was under arrest Friday in what police described as an elaborate extortion plot that included a fake bomb, a demand for money from a car dealership and a police surveillance operation that spanned the city.

Sylvia Antoun, 41, and her 12-year-old daughter were found handcuffed in a restroom at a storage facility in the San Fernando Valley about 9:30 a.m. Friday after being forced from their home a day earlier.

Police said they found the pair after arresting Kaveh Kamyab, 40. He was booked on suspicion of kidnapping for ransom and is being held on $1 million bail at a Los Angeles Police Department jail.

The case began to unfold Thursday morning when Sylvia Antoun's husband, Jean, walked into his office at Felix Chevrolet near USC, where he works as the general manager. He was wearing a vest that he thought contained a bomb and a transmitting device that would broadcast his every word to his kidnappers
