U.S. Troops Capture Republican Guard HQ
.c The Associated Press
SUWAYRAH, Iraq (AP) - U.S. Army soldiers Saturday captured the headquarters of the Republican Guard's Medina Division in this town about 35 miles southeast of Baghdad.
Two tank companies and an infantry company of the 3rd Infantry Division rolled through the headquarters unopposed and quickly took over the entire base. It appeared that the Republican Guard defenses had completely collapsed.
Outside the base on a three-mile stretch of road were hundreds of bunkers and foxholes and dozens of artillery pieces, antiaircraft guns, tanks, and armored personnel carriers.
All of them had been abandoned by Iraqi troops. No troops could be seen.
The tanks and Bradley Fighting Vehicles used their main guns to destroy the military vehicles along the route.

John, this is a riot. Did you post the one by the Washington Post regarding Hussein's leadership now moving to the tunnels?
John, it's as if they can't accept that it's over. And John, it is over.
The Republican Guard isn't as stupid as the media thought. Rumsfeld thought that these folks would give up. Remember a few days ago when the media was asking about the need for a new plan. It was based on the idea nobody would give up.
They gave up. It's over!!!!
Troops are now on CBS live feed, at city center circle.

Now we have new battle there. We will have to fight the Democratic National Committee's Fedayeen for the Medina Division's roster of troops KIA. They want it for voter registration.

LOL, don't put it past them. Can you imagine how many Democrats are going to have supported this war effort by the fall of 2004?
To: JohnHuang2; DoughtyOne
Yes, but what about North Korea? Why isn't Bush doing anything there? (What they'll be saying after the Iraqis give our troops a Macy's X-Mas Day parade welcome in Baghdad)...

Defense spending buys freedom.
Welfare spending buys slavery.

Our boys are kicking ass and not taking any names :) And a good percentage of our troops are 19 and 20 year olds. Amazing. God bless 'em.

Operational Pause is due to end any day now. The Iraqis had best be careful.

Watch Fox when you can because they have footage of all the buring tanks that our A-10's took out as they were going in the Bagdad. The fires were all only a few minutes old. They're not just driving in they are blasting their way in !I love those shots of the Bradley's and the tanks rolling in, black smoke filling the sky behind them. Nothing but utter devestation in their wake.
We're hitting Baghdad with the fury of a couple 100-story skyscrapers coming down...

I wish I could say you're wrong. But truth is, we'll be in North Korea by fall. IMO Either that or they will capitulate w/o us having to.
To: laz17
I agree.
To: DoughtyOne
But truth is, we'll be in North Korea by fall. I think a nicely done "public discussion" of the North Korean problem should start in a couple of months.
You wouldn't know where I can get t-shirts printed up with "NEXT STOP, PYONGYANG!" on them, would you?

Yeah, whoever's running this war is sure some dummy. Next thing you know, some crazy General is gonna try some hairbrained idea like charging up through an impassible sandstorm with the ludicrous idea of storming and overwhelming the Iraqi positions in a matter of days. ;-)
