CNN | 04/03/03 | Nic Robertson

Posted on 04/03/2003 12:56:27 PM PST by BaghdadBarney

Just overheard a CNN reporter (Nic Robertson?)reporting that folks inside Baghdad tell him that Iraqi government officials are driving around near the airport, using loudspeakers to urge civlians to leave their houses and go toward the airport to fight the infidels. According to Robertson's sources, people are acutually heading out there...

With a little work, NASCAR could hold the Talabanadega 500 here next year.

"OK, if they get 200,000 cheering civilians escorted by 20,000 Fedayeen, about 200 wearing bomb belts which the Fedayeen have remote controls for".....

Comment:

Dont worry about suicide bombers and the US Military. Suicide bombers and infiltrators have been confronted by the US Military for a half century. They are called various names, one being "sappers". Japanese, Chinese, North Koreans, and Vietnamese were so adept at it that they applied tourniquets to each extremity and charged doped up on amphetamines and all sorts of drugs to allow them to make a few yards more.

Suicide bombers only work best on terrified unarmed civilians. They dont work well on armed, highly trained, US soldiers who have a half century experience killing them.

"How reliable was the FNC source I saw earlier today. Female Iraqi judge who claims that a phone call to her Aunt who lives in Baghdad, revealed that they, along with ALL their neighbors, were being "protected" by soldiers who were in their homes."

I don't know how reliable she is, but she specifically said Fedayeen Saddam were there, in their homes, to protect them.

"Could be our special ops guys trying to get innocent civilians to safety at the airport before we go in ..."

I was wondering that too...thinking of Iraqi Americans who volunteered to go into Iraq and act as support forces for our troops.

I'm just waiting to see the reaction from the Iraqi Information Minister when a Marine has him by the scruff of the neck.

Not flaming ya Mole, just pointing out that suicide bombers work better on unarmed civilians than they do on armed soldiers.

Actually, training does exist to pick out suicide bombers from a crowd. I know because I've been to it.

I pray that we are wrong, but I've been afraid since the beginning that Saddam would sacrifice the citizens of Baghdad and blame it on America. If you look at the reporting from Al Jezeera and other Arab television you can see why Saddam would use those useful idiots to condemn America for slaughtering civilians. I really don't know how we can counter that kind of threat. I believe that the Pentagon is afraid of the same thing, because they keep warning that Saddam will kill his own people. But that also become part of the propaganda war. They can say that Americans are warning about such attacks to avoid the blame when they "kill" civilians. The whole thing is a sticky wickett.

Hitler Youth
A Birthday Celebration

Once Hitler descended into the Berlin bunker, he rarely left. One of the few times he did, however, was on April 20, 1945 — his 56th birthday. In the garden just outside the bunker, Hitler decorated 20 Hitler Youths-turned-soldiers. Here he shakes hands with Alfred Czech, a 12-year-old Hitler Youth soldier, after the young veteran of battles in Pomerania and upper and lower Silesia was awarded the Iron Cross. After the ceremony, Hitler returned to his underground home, which some generals regarded as "a madhouse being run by the inmates."

I can't believe he gave an Iron Cross to a twelve year old. The "madhouse" comment is certainly applicable to Baghdad as well.

Uh oh, here comes the gas, and blame America. Those evil U.S. forces killed all those civilians who were only trying to protect their city. I'd bet on it.

This was my first thought as well. Saddam is going to use the massacre of these people to inflame the 5 million or so Baghdadis against the American forces.
