The talking heads have been projecting our beach-head to be in Saddam City, but I think, why not at the airport? Room for lots of troops, built in buffer zone from the neighbors, easy to defend. Sounds perfect to me.

I was wondering when they were going to find one of the entrances. There was originally supposed to be a sub-way system & I guess it's use was changed to moving things around unseen to watchful eyes after Desert Storm.

My suggestion: Use some of the abundant natural gas in the region to fill the tunnel to a nice stoichiometric mixture with air, light a match, and see what comes out the other end.

Huh? Tigris a good 8-10 miles away according to my map.... A 10-mile tunnel is no great feat of engineering.
