Lynch Shot Iraqi Soldiers
The Washington Post ^ | April 3, 2003 | Susan Schmidt and Vernon Loeb

Posted on 04/02/2003 7:40:30 PM PST by John H K

Pfc. Jessica Lynch, rescued Tuesday from an Iraqi hospital, fought fiercely and shot several enemy soldiers after Iraqi forces ambushed the Army's 507th Ordnance Maintenance Company, firing her weapon until she ran out of ammunition, U.S. officials said yesterday.

I don't believe that to be emotion laden or gushing. You may not be reading it in the proper perspective. As for the feminazis, I don't give a damn about them, their own stupidity will lead to their eventual demise.

Probability of rape goes up imeasureably if you are a blonde female pow. Not all male pow's get raped.

Yeah, US troops aren't in the habit of raping Iraqi POWs.

well, I have long been in the anti- crowd.
I am cheerfully reevaluating my position, based on Pvt. Lynch's performance.
Men are not afraid to admit it when they have been wrong. ;)

David said that Jessica Lynch would recover physically but would be receiving psychiatric counseling.

Get her back home as soon as possible! There's something about this place - being nestled in the hills with a feeling that you are a thousand miles away from everything - that will cure a body right down to the marrow. Get her back here where a timid Lady Spring is emerging cautiously, and the birds that worship her fill the trees with their chattering praise. Get her back to these sleepy hills where the smell of wild rose and honeysuckle piggybacks on a warm, morning breeze as it squeezes past a shaft of pale sunlight through an open bedroom window. Get her back here where "home" means a little more because those woods on the hillside behind your house never change and are always there to help you remember when finding a turtle or swinging from a grape vine was the most important event in your life.

(Now if we could just get these people to vote REPUBLICAN, it truly would be paradise!)

Levity aside, I have as strong feelings as anyone about women in the military, but this girl has made me forget that for at least a day or two. I am damn proud to call her a fellow West Virginian and an American hero. They said her number one request in captivity was to go home. Let God be praised for allowing her to do so.

If I could ever meet this woman, I'd be proud to hand her a ring.

Ease up there, Diddle, I'm a former Jar head myself...no one knows Molly better than I do...but everyone is calling her a hero..she is NOT a hero...she is a survivor.

The spec ops that went in to get her, and anyone else they hoped to find, were the heros.

I have also spent my life after the Corps as a cop. I like female cops, but when the bar fight goes down, I don't want them as my back up...I want Joe and Rick and Bubba...sorry...no women in combat will always be my creed.

At the risk of being flamed and called unpatriotic I suggest calmness until the total and real story is searched out, then there will be no doubt about who did what to who and when for sure!

"If you can't see how your emotion-laden gushing is helping to advance the dangerous and sick feminazi agenda, you are blind beyond all hope."

Women on the battlefield put the lives of our fighting men at needless additional risk. Why are women there, other than to further a feminist doctine? They are not needed to win the war.

But then, 40 million pre-born infants have already been sacrificed on the alter of feminism, so that women could abandon their roles as women and assume the roles of men. So what are the lives of a few men compared to that? There is no price too high for the feminist's agenda. And feminisim is not just for Liberals anymore. You'll find plenty of it here at FR.

How may of our fighting men should die for political correctness and feminism?

Yeh, you've come a long way, baby.

No just Shoshauana, but Lori Pistewa, the 22 yr old from Jessie's unit, also missing. She's 22 and a Native American. I've seen very little mention of her aside from some freepers.

The mechanics get M16's but not sidearms? Rifles and shotguns are superior when you have them, but they are easy to lose track of when you have your hands full with mechanics tools. A sidearm is always at your side.

I read in the forum sometime a few days ago about 9 Marines dying in an attempted rescue on the POW's; I believe it was an attempt to save the ones on TV. If true, there goes that theory ;) (not yours, the one all over this board.)

Here's a story for you. Compare this with Jessie's as we know it. I'll try to hit the major points to keep it brief.

My brother plays in a band. The lead singer is in the Army Reserve. The only reason SHE was in service was to get money for her education. Before the war even started she was formulating her strategies to get out of service, because she hates our President. She was even casting about for doctors to say she was pregnant, when she wasn't. All this after 9-11, mind you.

Her boyfriend, also in the service, got called up and was deployed to Kuwait. She went ape-$hit. Then they got called up for deployment. She flat out said she wasn't coming back - told them that on her last weekend. Then she stopped showing altogether.

My brother and his friends all warned her what going AWOL means, to no avail. Even though a friend of theirs, a guy, did the same thing, in PEACE time, and nothing happened to him. (Thanks, Bubba.) She thought they wouldn't care, because after all she's only a "girl."

Her base called, told her to come clean out her locker so someone else could use it. Last I heard she still hadn't gone to even do that.

My hope was that she would go to clean out her locker, and get arrested and thrown in jail. She's a selfish little pissant, in my view. I at least hope she is forced to pay back all the money she was given for education, if she had received it yet, for trampling on the Flag that gave her a right to be the little bit&h she is.

Compare that with Pfc. Jessica Lynch's story, as we know it. Amazing.

Oddly, you should be correct but the PC folks have already lowered the bar in this case. She fired back and since she is a woman, that is a cause to celebrate.

I celebrate her survival...and luck to be alive. I am also happy she showed good spunk. She will need it to recover I fear.

She is a hero in a relative sense. Being called hero has been altered dramatically in this era. There are heroes...and then there are heroes I guess.

All this reminds me of the Cpt Linda Bray story back in Operation Just Cause. Original Army reports erroneously claimed that Captain Bray had "crashed through the gate in a jeep armed with a .50 caliber machine gun. Three enemy dead were found later."

In reality, the fight occurred over a PDF dog kennel, it lasted ten minutes, no one was killed, and Bray gave the attack order over the radio. Though there was little interest in Captain Bray at first, as soon as the first "women in combat" stories emerged, everyone wanted to talk to her, and the capture of the kennel soon reached legendary proportions. Linda Bray was trotted out before all four morning talk shows, and eventually Rep. Patricia Shroeder (D-Colorado) was using Bray as an example of why laws barring woman from combat should be repealed.

People who are interested in what really happened need to wait & see here.

"Too bad she probably only had the 9mm Beretta.:

She would have had an M16. She may have also had a 9mm pistol, but for sure she would have had an M16.

Our weak military is losing many lives of men and failing to perform in this war? - Are you watching a different war than I am? I think their advances and extremely low losses show a force that is the best in the world, in spite of these women being there.

Your fear was real, however, it is not playing out. Our military is strong.
