Conservatives 'fed up' with protesters (Free Republic prominently mentioned!)

Dozens of flag-waving rallies for American troops in Iraq look like spontaneous, grass-roots gatherings. But many are orchestrated by conservative political groups, just as anti-war protests are led by peace groups and activists on the political left.

Rallies for the troops took place this weekend in cities and towns including New York, San Francisco, Miami, Cleveland, Honolulu, Jacksonville, Concord, N.H., Harrisburg, Pa., and Kingsport, Tenn. More rallies are expected.

Even leftists are embarrassed, I mean, what right thinking person wouldn't?

We're dealing with people who hold street vomiting protests and carry signs urging troops to kill their officers.

Liberals are occasionally capable of embarrassment, but hard-core leftists are not.

just as anti-war protests are led by peace groups and activists on the political left.

We need to make it clear to everyone who these "peace" groups are. Here is the sign I made for yesterday's rally:

GROUP IS ORGANIZING
THE ANTI-WAR PROTESTS
A.RAB SOLIDARITY CAUSE COMMITTEE
N.ORTH KOREA TRUTH COMMISSION
S.OCIALIST PARTIES

Surely you don't expect...them to do that, now do you? They couldn't follow a trail of one dollar bills to the local bank...let alone follow a multi-million dollar trail.

Frankly...I think these people are either knowing participants...or useful idiots...for the A.N.S.W.E.R.'s, "Progessive Party", World Worker's Parties..PLO, Hamas, Al Queda, and every other SocialistMarxist group out there.

BWDIK?

I was watching WGAL-8 news at 6pm Sunday. They did about six minutes of coverage on the war, and then the first local story was about a crackdown on illegal garages in York. I missed about one minute of the newscast and saw NO mention of the rally - but the jerks had to have been aware of it, they showed prior to the weathercast a shot of the sky over the state Capitol - at 1pm - right in the middle of the rally.

The story the press is pushing now is just a variation on the "right wing conspiracy" line. Americans are not spontaneously rising up in support of the troops, they are being brainwashed and ordered to attend rallies by that juggernaut of right wing hysteria, Clear Channel. Nevermind the evidence that the leftist rallies are paid for by international communist organizations, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

I tried to make it clear that the Free Republic Network was claiming credit for these rallies. I stressed that they were organized and conducted by individual chapters, as well as many other groups from our partners and others, and that all we did was put the "coalition" together and issue a call to action for "LIbert Weekend" and provide information and tools for people new to this kind of activism.

I constantly stressed that FR and the FRN are not part of some GOP controlled organization, that we are independant, grass roots conservative activists. Considering the treatment we have received from the press in the past, I think this columnist made a fair attempt at getting the story straight.

Ouch. That should read ...

Also, by the "story straight" I mean in connection with FR and the FRN. The overall VRWC angle with regard to CLear CHannel is of course the party line at the moment.

I like everything about this story! They spelled our name right! Does anyone know if this is only in the on-line edition or if it's also in the print edition?

Great work Bob and IT!

I always put FreeRepublic on my signs though.

I'm too busy recording the events to wave a sign. And some the "FR" on my "Support Our troops" button never gets noticed... *\;-)

Hey DrewsDad,

I like you thoughts. But, aren't we (those who support the President & the coalition forces) allowing the left to paint us as PRO-WAR, when we are really PRO-BUSH and PRO-TROOPS and PRO-FREEDOM? Whenever people use the term Anti-war for the protesters it lends the idea to the ignorant or uninformed that this means the opposite of Anti-war is Pro-War. But, I know I am not Pro-War. I am just a supporter of our troops and our President.... I think more should be done to change people's perspective by pointing out more often that we are NOT Pro-War. Maybe you guys could display some signs at the rallies to help with this? What do you think|?
