Cranberry Township Rally for America
3.25.03 | Badray

Rally For America!

Sunday March 30th, 1:30 PM

Celebrate our freedom and the troops that defend it!

Cranberry Twp Municipal Center 2525 Rochester Road Cranberry Twp PA

(North of Pittsburgh, PA.) - Just minutes from the junctions of I79 and the PA Turnpike and Rte 228 and Rte 19 in Cranberry Township. Follow 19 north approximately 1 mile to Rochester Road on left. Turn left onto Rochester Road and go to the Municipal Center, which is just down the road on the left. You'll see the crowd. There is plenty of free parking at the site.

Speakers include State Sen. Jane Orie, State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, radio talk show host Jerry Bowyer, and others including Nikki Mendicino - an inspiring 14 year old 'decorated Honorary Veteran.' PLUS everyone who wants to voice their support for the troops will be given an opportunity to speak.

The weather forecast is for cloudy morning skies giving way to sunshine in the afternoon, with a high around 40 and some wind. But NO RAIN OR SNOW! Dress appropriately. Whatever the weather conditions, they do not begin to compare with the weather or the conditions in Iraq. Therefore, no weather related excuses will be accepted. ;-)

Bring your signs and flags. Bring your neighbors, friends, coworkers and all of the kids. Bring your mother in law. Just be there and bring your spirit and energy.

More importantly, bring something from the following list for the troops.

SERVICE MEMBERS' WISH LIST Travel Size Personal & Miscellaneous Items

Disposable razors / tooth brushes / tooth paste / shampoo / conditioner / shower gel / baby wipes / hand lotion / lip balm / sunscreen / cotton swabs / sewing kits

Compact Discs / Current Movies on DVD / CD/DVD Cases with Zipper / Disposable Cameras / Crossword Puzzle Books / Sunglasses / Pre-paid Global Calling Cards / Stationery and Journals / Small Footballs, Softballs / Playing cards / Individually Wrapped Snack Items / Shoe Polish Kits

Everything collected will be shipped by the Red Cross directly to our men and women in the Middle East.

I've never been to, or heard of Cranberry until now! This is getting so fantastic!!! FReepers are everywhere. You guys go; you make us proud. The last count I saw, it was at 110 Pro-America, Support Our Troops Rallies that were taking place. Judging from just this forum, that tally must be going up.

Hmmm. Why is that? And why haven't you done it already? LOL

You ask difficult and unsettling questions.

Great luck with the rally.

"I've never been to, or heard of Cranberry until now!"

Oh, then you haven't lived yet. LOL

Why don't you come on Sunday? If you start driving now, . . .

Just doing my job, man. Besides, if you think the questions are unsettling, you should see some of the answers I get. LOL

Thanks for the bumps.

I regret that I can only be there in spirit.
But for those who ARE in the area, I can recommend King's Family Restaurant for a good pre-rally Sunday brunch!

My brother & his family just moved from Cranberry to up toward Butler. Cranberry's a nice area. I especially liked that Chinese buffet restaurant there by the Turnpike.

Since we're turning this into a restaurant guide, you have to try the wings at Climo's Pizza and Chicken (right near WalMart). They are the best.

Sounds good!! Hopefully the news will focus on this rather than focusing on the idiots that shut down the city last week.

My old truck might have a conniption if I asked it to go farther than 20 miles. The old Dodge has taken me all over this country, but at 175,000 miles thinks it needs to be babied! It has promised me that we will go to the river next month to hunt a few mushrooms. It deserves its cushie treatment!!

Seriously, I am so thrilled to see these Rallies...every one of them from 2 attending to 17,000. Please, be sure to post photos and especially a report of what happened. Seems A Navy Vet is collecting information to make an MTV style CD of all these Rallies, so go for it! Let the rest of the world hear of Cranberry. Otherwise, we'll all die without knowing what a great bunch of folks are there!

You shoulda bought a Honda. At 8 years and 101K, I figure it has another ten years and another 100K in her at least. I actually live in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. Cranberry is in the next county, but it's close enough.

Last week the Trib made a mistake and listed last Sunday as the rally date. Based on a two line comment in the paper, 60 people and 3 TV crews showed up. They all promised to be back this week. The reporters that I heard didn't report it as a mistake. They just said that a much bigger rally was planned for this week. I think that they will be right.

Are Climo's wings better than Quaker Steak & Lube on Freedom Road?

Since we're turning this into a restaurant guide,

Oooops!

I suppose that could get confusing since there are 2 King's Restaurants nearby.
I've been to them both, but the one that's closest to the rally is right on 19. As you're traveling N on 19, it sits in the parking lot of a shopping center on the left, just after you pass the turnpike.

The other one (which I've been to more frequently) is actually 3~4 miles south of that in Wexford off of I-79 where 79 is crossed by 910. As you're traveling N, it sits on the right, kinda up on a little hill next to a mini-mart/gas station.

Take your pick. They're both good. And ya can't miss 'em.
