Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

I think it has been the sand all night. Any video coming out of where the troops are show it so thick you can't see but a few feet in front of you.

Shep was right. MSNBC reports that 3000 chemical suits and masks among the things found in that hospital. Oh no! Just when we thought the number was resolved.
I'm staying out of it this time :-)

SECOND HAND INFO:
CNN: Pentagon captures 170 soldiers at hospital
CNN's Jamie McIntyre reports that the Pentagon is again charging Iraq with breaking the Geneva Convention. American forces have captured 170 paramilitary fighters in civilian clothing, holed up in a Red Cross hospital in Nasiriya. In addition, they found 200 weapons, 3,000 chemical suits and masks, and various Iraqi military uniforms. The Pentagon says Iraq was using the hospital as a staging area, from which they would launch "terrorist" attacks in Nasiriya. There were no civilians in the hospital at the time of seizure.

I'm thinking we just aren't getting ALL the story. Bet Rummy's getting a big kick out of that!

Remember that briefing when the reporter said, "We're not getting much information out of the DOD," and Rummy said, "No kidding? Great!"
I love that man.

MSNBC is reporting from the Iraqi-Jordan border that more than 5,000 Iraqi nationals living in Jordan have gone back to Iraq to join the resistance--those opposing the Saddam Hussein regime.
