Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

The 1st Armored Division and 1st Cavalry on the way too. I heard they were already being unloaded in Kuwait.

CNN said Iraqi Tv off air! Whoo hoo! I sure hope it's true. Fox News said something about that after the TVs in the reporters hotel going out and that perhaps it meant that Iraqi TV was out as well. This would be great!

I hope they ain't runnin radar on the highway north out of Kuwait cause those M1s will be making like Richard Petty getting to Baghdad.
To: mhking
Wind. You should have seen it earlier, the camera was being whipped around.
To: Howlin
we are hearing a lot about the south......and almost nothing about what is going on in the north; That is why I think something is up with that. At the briefing, more than once I thought the people answering the questions about the time etc. could barely restrain themselves about the true nature of our posistions.
It would make sense to me that we confront them with lots of power from one side and have forces that can attack and retreat quickly to attack them from the north. This would tend to keep them from retreating to the city, it would squeeze them into one area and it would make use of chemicals less likely of they are boxed in.
In addition, I always felt there was more to our arrangment with Turkey than met the eye.

FWIW= for what it's worth
WOOHA....that one took me days to figure out :-)

4th Id on their way.
1st Cav hasn't loaded their ships yet.
To: mhking
I think those were bombs, but what the heck is that constant noise? weather.com says there's a thunderstorm in Baghdad. The other noise could be wind, or rainwater in a downspout.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to me; I had the same thoughts, but haven't been around enough to be sure of the facts.
And it's odd to me that we aren't seeing any live reports from many Marines. I'm thinking we just aren't getting ALL the story.
To: Toskrin
Snowing in Kuwait City...Anyone besides me see that?
To: Bryan24
The 4th Mech. Div. armor is still in the ships. I've been wondering about this. What if the Turkey Show has all been a ruse? What if the "Turkey is going into northern Iraq" stories were encouraged - That would explain away eyewitness reports of tanks moving in. What if it was the 4th mech?
My goodness, I hope I didn't just gove away our gameplan...

That makes as much sense as anything. Once the Iraqi armor starts moving (assuming they don't get zotted in place), they wil have no anti-air while on the move.
Perfect for Apaches of the 101.

Must be difficult for travel agents to sell those tours.Human shield tour. Dennis Prager was saying last night that a human shield confronted by an Iraqi citizen couldn't believe that anyone would come from a free nation to risk their life for a monster...he kept saying, "Come on, what are you being paid by Saddam?"
Smart Iraqi.

Our dog, too. He's also handy to have around during tornado warnings. We head for the basement as soon as the warning sounds, but we're not really concerned as long as our dog stays calm (normally storms don't bother him at all). If he starts getting antsy and can't settle down, we get nervous.
To: Bryan24
Who is left to attack from the North? I don't know. If it happens it supposed to be a surprise. Plus it wouldn't take a large number of troops if the Iraq's are facing a larger force from the south.
