Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

I have a question: we are hearing a lot about the south......and almost nothing about what is going on in the north; should that tell me something?
To: Inspectorette
What a neck on that guy - he could play defensive tackle for the Raiders! My DH and I noticed that over the weekend, too.

Why is the media even bothering with him? Could he be any more irrelevant!!
I think they are just playing with him.

My neighbors' dog, a Sheltie, hears fire and police, tornado et al sirens before we do and starts howling. You should have heard her during all the repeats of the air raid sirens in KC and Baghdad last weekend. Poor thing.

That is definitely not thunder.

As far as I know, Shep's the only one who's been saying 3000 (except for me, and I heard it from Shep!).

Maybe it's our secret dog recruits...we are using dolphins and sea lions!

I see a few reports a day from the north. But I would bet they don't want you to know what they are doing until it's done.

From who?
The 3rd ID is at Karbala.
The 1st Marine Division is somewhere south of Baghdad.
The British are securing the south of Iraq.
The 101st is somewhere in the south, or at least WAS there.
FWIW, the 101 and the brigades of the 82nd are not capable of attacking defending tank positions.
Who is left to attack from the North? The 4th Mechanized is the only unit not involved. Their tanks are still in ships.
To: Inspectorette
Could he be any more irrelevant!!Yes, he could be Michael Moore.

He's still planning to go on w/inspections!!! Said he hoped the war would be a short one......gotta get on with/keep his pretend job.
Isn't it remarkable how everyone who was so obstinate about our not going to war is now slobbering for a piece of the action AFTER we shed our blood, spend our treasure, and win it?
To: babaloo
My dogs do that also....My little Beagle is really listening right now too.
To: Fledermaus
Anyone hear mention of airstrikes called in to Saddam Int'l to take out SAM sites?

To: Otta B Sleepin
I'm sorry that I am a little behind. 3,000 what? Captured? Killed?
