Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

So, are they just evacuating the Hart building? Hopefully it's just a false threat they are worried about.

The number 90 bil (Prez said 75 today) has been floating for about a month. To say they had no idea is a lot of cr**. They're looking for the insertion of pork.

I've got dsl and cabble, wishing I had a shortwave radio to get foreign broadcasts. I don't want to hear just one side of the story.

Neal Boortz just said he saw film of airborne troops (82nd div?) JUMPING from C-130's over an Iraqi airfield. Will we see some 21,000 lbs bombs JUMPING from C-130's?

Kondracke also, I am told, recently lost his beloved wife to Parkinson's disease after a long, long battle and has handled his grief with composure and class. Omigosh - I didn't know that Millie passed away. When did this happen? I'm a faithful Fox News viewer, but I must have somehow missed this. Condolences to Mort and his daughters - they loved Millie so much.

If we really believed that we are close to a point where the Iraq RG will use CW, wouldn't a windy day be to our advantage....especially when the wind is coming out of the SW?

Which part?
Europe REFUSES to hand over intelligence to us unless we assure them that we will NOT use the Death Penalty against the terrorists!!! Very well known - see the Massousi (sp?)Case
Most of the people arrested in Europe have been freed. The cells arrested in Italy are free. The bombers arrested in Heidelberg are free. Essentially, the only ones NOT free are the ones who wanted to attack Europeans!
Europe knowingly and willingly grants asylum to known terrorists. Europe granted asylum to the terrorists in the Church of the Nativity Incident
What exactly in the above can be considered positive?
Do I need to find the links?? We can carry this forth in mail or start another thread. I don't want to clutter up this thread on a side issue!!

Yes, but just a procedural vote in the Senate. The House will reinstate the full tax cut, and send it to conference. The battle will be in the reconciliation package this summer to be hammered out in the conference committee.
Bottom line: ff Bush can hold the House on this, he'll get 90% or more of what he wants.

Why are you unwilling to engage in discussion?
You've posted how the support of France and Germany is necessary but haven't shown a reason why. I've also seen you try to subtly dismiss a POV because someone many not have lived outside of the US. Subtle but ineffective.
You did not say they fight solely for the US but you did say France and Germany are NECESSARY to the US in the war on terror. Why? What do they bring to the table?

The sandstorm. We'll go in before then. I imagine Delta Forces and the Special Forces are already close enough to guide the bombs

I checked all my TV stations and there was nothing. Maybe it was a scheduled test evacuation like we had in school.

Fox - Aziz press conference in Baghdad.
I'll get you some links when I get back. Got workers coming shortly.

I've been in regular dust storms and they are awful. Sandstorms have got to hurt, and it's gotta be hell to keep the weapons clean. Plus which, every bite of food would be crunchy.
Then again, the Iraqis have to deal with it, too, and I'm guessing they're having a harder time than we are.

I posted that before Prez Bush's speech this morning. I guess I was just surprised to hear that this may be a 6 month war...
To: Inspectorette
I haven't read Mort's book, but I did hear him on Booknotes with Brian Lamb. He's one of the very few dems that I respect, and the interview increased my respect for this devoted husband.
To: mwl1
Right. That's what I expect to happen. Even if they pull $100 billion out, Bush still gets 87% of what he asked for plus a nice chunk going to Defense. Not bad.
