Troop Prayer Thread 3

A number of us have recently decided to form an active prayer circle here to pray for our Troops. We have many fine young men and women known to us here at FreeRepublic.com serving in the Army, Navy, Marines, Airforce and Coast Guard. Several on our troop list to date actually are registered in the forum, and have become known to us personally among the constellation of Freepers.

If you would like to submit someone for our list, you are welcome to do so at any time. Post their name or pseudonym here on the thread or freepmail amom or myself. If we have made any errors, please let us know so that we may correct the list. We will be making periodic updates.

We invite everyone, active Freepers and Lurkers alike to join our circle in prayer for these fine men and women who have volunteered to place their lives on the line for the defense of our nation and for the liberation of the oppressed peoples of other nations. To them we send our greatest respect and gratitude. We send them our prayers and good thoughts. We ask for God's blessing upon them and their families.

For those of us who have somewhat limited computer capacity, we request that graphics be limited to pictures of loved ones for whom we are offering prayers, special visuals that seem particularly approprieate, and non-moving graphics. Thank you.

Lord, as a soldier I ask of thee, give me the strength to face the enemy. Even though he may be brutal may I have the moral courage to be brave in the fight and the compassion to treat him when he is defeated. Keep from me the anger to do that which I will regret later and that does not fit with my faith. I will meet the enemy in honorable battle but I will not dishonor you when the battle is over.
I am human and I am not perfect, but keep my path clear, I am in battle to defeat a foe, and to protect those less able to protect themselves. It was not "Thou shalt not kill." But "Thou shalt do no murder." Let me not forget what it is to take a life if I must. Forgive me, but keep my hand from crossing that line.

So I'm haveing lunch today at my favorite greasyspoon and talking to one of the waitresses about the war(what else). She says My nephew is over there with the Marines. What's his name, if you don't mind I'd like to pray for him, "OH that would be great, his name is MARK ARNOLD."
I know some folks online who pray for these people defending us and I'll mention his name ok? Great she says...and so I have.

POW Patrick Miller found faith last year at Kan. Baptist church

WICHITA, Kan. (BP)--A Southern Baptist church in Kansas is rallying to support the family of American POW Patrick Miller whose wife is a longtime member.

Olivet Baptist Church in Wichita is reaching out to Miller's wife, Jessa, and her two young children following the capture of her husband by Iraqis during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Miller, 23, and four others are members of the Army's 507th Maintenance Company who became the war's first American POWs.

Miller and his wife were married at Olivet Baptist Church about a year ago. The church's pastor, Ron Pracht, performed the ceremony and provided the couple's marriage counseling, during which Miller accepted Christ. Shortly after the marriage, Miller and his wife left for Fort Bliss, Texas, where the 507th Maintenance -- part of the 111th Air Defense Artillery Brigade -- is stationed.

Jessa returned to the Kansas area after her husband was deployed. Pracht said he has talked to her since the news broke.

"We're praying with them [Jessa and her family]," Pracht told Baptist Press. "Our women's teams are ready to provide meals. [Jessa] is just real reticent to that. She's still pretty numb."
