A thank you to Freepers everywhere
Posted on 03/22/2003 4:44:44 PM PST by hilaryrhymeswithrich
This is just a general thank you to all you freepers. Though I am certain I should have known better, I just find you all a few weeks ago. I use to wonder sometimes if I was alone out there, fighting the battle with the left alone with the small group of friends I have formed over the years.

Many more of my friends agree with me, but don't seem to have the urge to call, fax e-mail and write (or ping). They smile politely, shake there heads and think, "That wacky Kate and her causes." I am fairly sure if I am not already on some sort of FBI list for all my calls to Washington, I will be soon!!!
Thank you for creating a wonderful place to not only vent, but really do something. The fact that the peacniks are foaming at the mouth with the accusation that they aren't getting enough coverage (the nerve!!!!!) means we as a group are making an impact.
Here is a story of a future freeper. My nine year old daughter recently toured CNN with her class. We have had a lot of talk in our house about media bias (from all angles) and she was particularly miffed at them after spending 5 weeks in Europe watching them bash Bush (she loves him). When the time came for questions, you can imagine how goofy they were.........until Lucy. She raised her hand and politely asked," Have you noticed a drop in ratings since Fox news came on the air." They were literally stunned silent!
Freep on friends!

I know just how you feel. I happened to turn into Rush Limbaugh one day and suddenly found out I was not the only person who had certain beliefs. Through his program, I learned about FreeRepublic.com and I have been here ever since. Welcome, and hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
And ... I wouldn't call your daughter a "future" freeper. I'd say she's already well established.

WELCOME ABOARD!
Ya know, I think every single one of us has the same story there, friend!
I used to work with a group of Liberals who were simply mind numbingly Clintonesque. It was a culture of corruption and deception. I found FreeRepublic and became empowered when I found I was not alone.
Since then, I'm not joking, my life has changed, and now I'm the one bringing forth conservative ideals and promoting the destruction of the disease of liberalism that has for so long continued unabated and unchallenged.
They still don't know what hit them!
Welcome to the family!

Welcome, so glad you're here.
I lurked for a long time, having heard about FR on Rush. But after the election, I almost exploded - or imploded- LOL and just had to sign on.
Your daughter sounds wonderful !!! God job Mom

I know how you feel about finding Free Republic! I'll never forget the first time when I came here because of a link from DRUDGE. I looked it over with disbelief and called to my husband and said: "Jim, you should see this web site I just found!!" My life hasn't been the same since, and the addiction is complete! LOL!
Welcome!,----- and give a hug to that great daughter of yours. Lucy is on the right track!

Welcome, welcome, welcome, HRWR!
I used to feel the same way...all alone till I found this place during the 2000 election. I lurked for many months before posting and waited 2 1/2 years to post a thread (and it's still the only one I've done). You're much braver than I. :)
Two of my kids are alot like Lucy (bless her heart). My 14 yr.old daughter just e-mailed Bill O'Reilly to tell him why she supports our President and Op. Iraqi Freedom. My son went to a rally last night with us, excitedly waving his flag. He often speaks out in class when the other kids start bashing the President.
There is hope for their generation.

Your post reminds me of the morning I was listening to C-Span when they did a piece on favorite web sites and I heard Jim Robinson through the fog of not enough coffee, etc. and thought these people sound like me. LOL. The rest is history. Here we are and welcome.

Good one to Lucy - what a great kid! So glad you found FR. It will give you hope that the world has not gone completely mad. Welcome.

You said a mouthful! I just registered a little over a month ago and am still a newbie. I have been an addicted luker since the elections in 2000. My habit has only grown worse since signing on. I'm up to countless hours a day since I Freep @ work. If there is a rehab for the Freerepublic I don't want to know about it!
