he is pulling us into baghdad for something

Lots of experts predicted that Saddam would let most of the country fall and defend the cities (as we're seeing in Basra), hoping for bloody street battles which could sap our will.

I really don't think we're stupid enough to fall for it.

There are many advantages to guerilla-type or terror-type tactics but there is also one great disadvantage which is particularly important in this instance: Once they demonstrate that this is the manner in which they are fighting they give themselves away and lose their advantages. They can only apply these tactics on the unsuspecting. When the unsuspecting are alerted, by an attack like this, they can easily take steps to prevent it.

I believe that our forces (our command) already is quite aware of the concept of Baghdad being a booby-trap for something truly horrible. That is why there will a siege perimeter around Baghdad (like there is right now around Basra). And when we have a perimeter we can concentrate our incredible fire-power advantage on their remaining forces and degrade them until there is literally nothing left.

We will not just try to triumphally march into Baghdad -- we will invest the city fully, and pound their forces in it at our leisure. This won't end in a few days. We will take our time.

Tony Snow on Foxnews has been reporting extensively on this in the last 15 minutes, 10 injured, 6 seriously, two tents, one a command tent!

Six US soldiers injured in Kuwait grenade attack: CNN
Six US soldiers have been seriously injured in an apparent "terrorist" grenade attack on US forces camped out in northern Kuwait, a US journalist told CNN.

A US miltary spokesman in Kuwait told AFP he could not confirm all the details of the report.

"We don't know what occurred. Initial reports are that 10 people have been injured," Colonel Rick Thomas said.

The journalist told CNN that two grenades were apparently rolled into a command tent in what seemed to be a "terrorist attack".

He said six soldiers were seriously hurt and that two others were lightly injured.

An American journalist from Time magazine, Jim Lacey, is with the 101st Airborne division - he says the attack was specifically on the headquarters tent.

"I'm at Camp Pennsylvania in northern Kuwait, we have had what appears to be a terrorist attack," he said.

"Right now they are saying and we have a witness who said he saw one of the grenades roll into the tent.

"They have six seriously injured, two maybe three others not so seriously injured, the situation is a bit chaotic, I do not know was injured and according to the rules here we would not be able to tell you anyway.

"The assumption right now is that it was a terrorist attack.

"No one is assuming this is an Iraqi unit, we are quite a ways south of the border, 12 to 20 miles - they saw which way they ran, there are infantrymen forming up to pursue them, but as of yet, no-one has been caught."

That sounds tremendous. Glad you were there. I have a son down the road from you at Pacific Lutheran U. in Tacoma. He'll be a 28 year old Infantry 2LT in May. (8 years under Clinton already) On to Ranger School.

It was Lou Dobbs. He was listening both to Baghdad (which they had on a live feed) and to Kuwait and got confused.

That was his own explination.

I hope you are right and that our decisions will continue to come from our military rather than from political and beaurocratic hacks. I want Colin Powell to stay as far away from this as possible.

Yup. I say we were lucky. But careless in base security is inexcusable. Laxness deserves to punished with a court-martial.

I pray nobody got killed, and not to be cold-blooded, but the troops over there just learned a very valuable lesson. Unfortunately it's a lesson we should have learned after Vietnam, after Beirut, and even after the first Gulf War.

It would be better for Sephardic Jews and Coptic Christians to do the Arabic translations. Jihadists are no friends of theirs.

I'd go with two terrorists who unfortunatley killed themselves just before being captured.

I *am* a reasonable person. I used to be a rabid watcher of ABC News, including World News Tonight and Nightline. However, when newscasters go out of their way to present information in a *clearly* biased manner, I rapidly become *unreasonable*. IMHO they've shown their colors, *repeatedly*, and I'm through with them. I won't tune into ABC News until the people currently there have died of old age. They're biased, period.

This is horrible, but it just goes to show the true nature of the enemy we fight. We are fighting against creatures which are little more than hatred in human form. They have no minds or souls, they are just incarnated hatred. And as such, there is no other way to deal with them except extermination. Try to understand their motivation, their feelings, as the liberals suggest? F*uck no! Exterminate them with extreme prejudice, without mercy. They are not fellow human beings, they just look like fellow human beings. They are satanic sub-humans.

If this kind of crap continues, and escalates, the time will come for us to take the gloves completely off in this war. No more Mr. Nice Guy, no more being compassionate. Compassion for inhuman monsters will quickly get us dead. We're trying to restrain ourselves, not so much for PR purposes, but because we're honorable and don't want innocents to die. But if the enemy raises the stakes, we'd better have the stomach to fumigate the vermin and to hell with public opinion. The world hates us already, even as we do our damnedest to limit collateral damage. Regardless of what we do, they will still hate us. We have nothing to lose -- except the war.

This is not just a war, people. This is a biblical battle. The foe is pure evil, and we're going to have to smite it with biblical wrath. Remember, this is Babylon, the literal one, and it is a den of foul and evil spirits. Just as St. Paul explained, we fight not only against flesh and blood, but against powers and principalities. If our President and our troops wear the full armor of God, and do not shy away from whatever needs to be done no matter how it might play to world opinion, we will win. The rest of the world, and our own enemies within, cannot possibly hate us more than they already do. So to hell with them, and may they be utterly damned! And the millions of them put together cannot withstand the fury and indignation of the one true God.

Just happened to "surf" to MSNBC and caught that. At first I thought those girls were protestors--and I was angry! But then I stayed long enough to find out they were supporting our troops and it really touched my heart.

My son just called this AM to say he and his troops are OK--bored but OK--and I told him "Bored is definitely OK with me!!!" But if anything happened to him---well, I've been praying very hard for him and all our troops when I told him that he said, "Thanks--it's working!"

But I have NO PATIENCE for those who are so naive as to think our troops are out to "kill". They are like those who were against doing anything before Hitler marched into Czechloslovakia--heads stuck up too far to see anything clearly!

I saw Laurie Mylroie (sp?) this past week on FOX making a point about how Iraq may be using IDs it collected during its occupation of Kuwait to provide backround IDs for its agents. I hope we're checking this out.
