Actually hot crossed buns should be offensive to Christians at Easter time. If you read your Bible you'd know why.

We are moving away from a religious theme for Easter

Hmmm - correct me if I'm wrong, FairOpinion, but doesn't Easter have a religious background??

I find it interesting that the Muslims are defending this, and actually rebuking the Liberals.

That's very fair minded of them, imo.

I've said for a very long time that "political correctness is a killer." I stand by this statement.

"We are moving away from a religious theme for Easter... "

Arguably the most holy of celebrations in Christianity. I don't see any reciprocation by the Hindus, Muslims, or anyone else. Prince Sultan of the House of Saud claims that here never has been or will be any Christian Churches in SA and those who want to build one are "fanatics." This PC infection has got to go. It disgusts me to no end.

The reactionary buns must be purged from the school system, lest they contaminate children with Christian ideals. Children might feel pressured to convert to Christianity, it's like the Tories want to wage a crusade against schoolchildren: first by taking money away from government schools and then by forcing Christianity on them. </sarcasm>

Europe is terrified of its indiginous muslims and will do almost anything to avoid "offending" them. London, Paris, and Brussels have all seen serious Mulim riots, and elsewhere muslim-immigrant crime (gang rapes are popular) is entirely out of control. Basically, Europe's hyper-enlightened social democracies are are being eaten alive by a 6th-century internal parasite, and will do nothing about it. It ain't pretty.

Islamic Immigration - Just say no. (Better, demand your Congressman say no)

I think it's time Christians start moving into Muslim and Hindu countries and raise HELL that our faith is being ignored. They'll eagerly respond and drop all semblance of their "faiths" when we do, I'm sure..............right??? Won't they???

Some councils are refusing to hand out the traditional treats because they fear that the symbol of the cross will spark complaints from Jewish, Hindu and Muslim pupils or their families.

How long until the addition symbol will be deemed as potentially offensive.

Liverpool council, which is controlled by the Liberal Democrats, also told The Telegraph that the symbol of the cross had the "potential to offend" and buns will no longer be served to children.

Here's to the Liverpool council:

The traditional Christian habits of England are being erased by secular post-Christian agitators.

This is akin to forbidding christmas carols from Christmas. Or even the schools in the US that have outlawed the term "Christmas".

Yes, the politically correct movement is out of control. The most important thing in life to them is not to offend anyone, lol! So much for culture, debate , thinking and discerning.

Anyway, symbols are important. Some symbols have more than one meaning or can mean one thing to someone and another thing to another. That is why a little history comes in handy, so we can examine the roots of where cultural items such as symbols (or celebrations for example) come from.

It is true that it appears to be a cross on the bun, but it also is a pagan symbol.

from web page on symbols:
"CIRCLE (quartered): The sacred circle filled with a cross, four equal lines pointing from the center to the spirits of the north, east, south, and west -- or to the basic element: earth, water, air (or wind), and fire. In Native American traditions, it forms the basic pattern of the MEDICINE WHEEL and plays a vital part in major spiritual rituals. Many contemporary pagans consider it their main symbol for transmitting the energy of the goddess.    Churches have used variations of the same popular shape, usually calling it the Celtic Cross."

You'd think the wiccans or earth worshippers would be extatic to have this symbol served to children. Go figure.

But we know that in the history of the Christian church, pagan symbols(and holidays) were taken and supposedly 'Christianized'. And now we have pagans taking Christian symbols and using them in thier anti- Christian worship. The cross held upside down, the peace symbol (broken, upside down) and the swastica are examples.

In the end, the cross of Christ, when used as a symbol of true Biblical Christianity, that is, God in the flesh coming to sinful humanity in Jesus Christ to die for our sins and become our salvation and bring us to God, will always be a frustrating stumbling block to those who do not believe.

Well, the PC Police have taken over the world. Remember the old nursery rhyme:

Hot cross buns!
Hot cross buns!
One a penny, two a penny,
Hot cross buns!

Hot cross buns!
Hot cross buns!
If you have no daughters,
Give them to your sons!

Here is the new, PC version:

Lukewarm non-denominational baked goods
[Can't say "Hot"--might offend some women who aren't
Can't say "cross"--might offend non-Christians
Can't say "Buns"--might offend some women who have unattractive ones]
Lukewarm non-denominational baked goods
One a unit of currency, two a unit of currency
[Can't say "penny"--might offend poor people who don't have one, or natives of countries that use a different currency]
Lukewarm non-denominational baked goods
If you have no offspring, because you chose abortion over life, or are unable to conceive, or are gay
Give them to your offspring, if you have them, or to Greenpeace or the anti-war movement or Planned Parenthood if you don't!
