Yesterday, two uniformed policemen came to my place of business and informed the manager that there was an "anit-war rally" planned across from Buckley AFB, on 6th street. They said that if we were planning on coming to work on Saturday (today!), that we need to be out of there by noon, as they may have to shut 6th street down. They said that they are supposed to be peaceful, but there may be the same protesters as at Colorado Springs and there may be trouble. I began to cry... my husband is leaving for the middle east within days. This is not just a political issue for me. This is an extremely emotional issue! I am prepared to go at this alone, but I am hoping that there are some of you in the Aurora area or anyone in Colorado willing to show support for our military. I am going to make some signs today and hopefully, one of my co-workers will join me. He is former Navy. I am trying to get some neighbors to join me as well. I don't know how this process works. Can we "rally" anywhere? Do I need some sort of permit or permission? I don't want to deal with the "anti-war" protestors. I don't even want to be near them b/c I am afraid I will just lose it! BUT - I also don't want any of our troops going or already there to think that most of America doesn't support them. I am absolutely livid about what these protestors are doing in the name of peace. I wasn't born until after the Vietnam War but I remember and so do my father and father-in-law. NEVER AGAIN should our troops be treated the way our veterans were!! I can't stand by and allow it to happen! I am the granddaughter of a Marine who served in WWII, the daughter of a 22 year veteran, and the wife of a proud Marine. What can I say... it's in my blood! Please come and show your support!! The cops said the protest was to start at noon on 6th street. I really hope to see some citizens 100% behind our troops. I will definitely be there, even if noone else can make it. And to Trteamer... I saw your post, I hope to see you there. I was so happy to see that at least you knew about this protest planned today. God bless.

I checked out the web site for the peaceniks (http://www.ccmep.org/meeting.html#rally)
I sounds like they have made arrangements to rally on the base. How can we counter protest?

The jerks' website says:
When: Saturday, March 15th, 12 noon
Where: North Entrance of Buckley Air Force Base at 6th Avenue and Tower Road in Aurora (3
miles east of I-225, just east of Airport and Buckley Roads) Directions to the Rally at
Buckley Field in Aurora:
From downtown Denver, go east on Alameda to 225. North on 225 to 6th. East
on 6th about 3 miles to Airport Road. Go past Airport Road and take your first left onto
Salida Way. Street parking along Salida Way.
From the north, take I 25 to I 70 East to 225 South. Exit 6th East and follow
directions above.
From the south, take I 25 to 225 North. Exit 6th East and follow directions
above.
NOTE: There is NO parking at the base and we should not drive our cars there. The rally will be
held on federal base property by arrangement and we will direct you there from the parking area.
Please honor this arrangement and walk to the North Gate along 6th for the rally. Please carpool with
your friends if possible. The Rally will be from 12-1:30. After the rally, at 2, at another location at the
base, folks will risk arrest in an act of Civil Disobedience.
There is no room for a crowd at this location.

Street parking along Salida Way.

Remember this is the same crowd that spray paints furr coats while being worn. So.............
Since you know where they are parking, and want to make an impression and a statement and don't want to do something illegal ............

1. Take a camera, as they park, take a picture of them getting out of their car, make sure they see you taking a picture of their license plate (don't even have to have film in the camera, don't say a word!!!!!!!!! if they ask you what you are doing, say making a memory book.)

2. Cross out (don't touch the car in any way while doing this, with a magic marker - black out the inevitable No War against Iraq sticker- black out just war against, so that they have to drive around with the bumper sticker no Iraq.

3. Take limburger cheese (at least two bricks) with you. As you walk among them, drop a little chunk of cheese near them - or on their sign, or in their pocket.

I am sure others can think of more ways to be carry out civil disobedience against the protesters. What would they get you for?

Taking pictures with no film? You didn't threaten them, it was their paranoia that made them not want you to take their picture.

rubbing out two words on a bumper sticker?

Eating your lunch while attending the protest?

Where is your place of business along Sixth Avenue? I'm going to try and make it to the BAFB rally today so I probably won't be seeing you Northern Freepers. I wish I had a digital camera to record what goes on.

I don't think they will be allowed on the base but I could be wrong. I go out to BAFB with my dad all the time and security is pretty tight. Somehow I don't think they will be allowing a flood of degenerate peaceniks onto a military base during almost war time.

That was a good freep! There were only 12-14 of us (I think) and several hundred of them & a whole lot of police officers and media people. The hardest part was getting the attention of the military people going in & out of the base.

They were ignoring everybody & didn't expect to see any patriots out supporting them. They did wave & honk when they did see us, though. One lady gave me the "thumbs down" then, when she actually read my sign she rolled down her window & apologized & honked for us. LOL

We were interviewed by TV & print reporters. I'm curious how this will show up in the news.

We left shortly after the peaceniks called for those who wanted to participate in "civil disobedience" & started to work the crowd up into a frenzy with chanting & slogan shouting. A so called "legal witness" told us that the "civil disobedience" would occur across the street from the base since they didn't want to do anything on Federal property. You'd think that if they were truly committed, it wouldn't matter to them what kind of law they broke (heh heh heh).

We had been warned ahead of time by base personel that tear gas might be used so we decided to move upwind (discretion being the better part of valor). We left Island Princess & her friend still giving their support for the troops (out of harm's way) & in my rear-view mirror, I could see the police car lights flashing as the useful idiots moved out to block the road.

Some of the other freepers there (Beavers Mom is the only other name I remember - sorry) will be posting pictures & hopefully their accounts.

We have discussed fertilizing their corners with some sheep dung about an hour before they show up. LOL

We are going to have to FReep together sometime since you live in Loveand.

This support the troops freep was a first for me but a few things stood out:

It was really shameful the way the anti-America gang used profanity and even the "F" word in their rantings on their microphone. They didn't care that there were children in their crowd and ours.

Several of their protesters came over to our side of the road to engage us in conversation. We were being lectured by two young women from CU that "they support the troops too but violence never solves anything" blah, blah, blah when two troops stopped and the Female troop came over to thank us for the support. We of course told her that thanking her was the reason we all had come out. One of the "students followed her as she was walking back to her car and though I couldn't hear what was said, I did see a look of sadness pass across that young Air Force Woman's face. We gave her big smiles and waves as she drove away and hopefully those will erase the memory of the other encounter!

Finally, even though they can't show any partiality, the police and firemen did give us little thumbs up signals....I hope they know that they are heroes too!
