Procter & Gamble will not support our troops (Vanity)
Posted on 03/15/2003 5:04:30 AM PST by LuLuLuLu
Cincinnatians know that there was a Support our Troops rally sponsored by local radio station WKRC on Wednesay, March 12 on Fountain Square. Many people also know that Cincinnati is the home of Procter & Gamble, and that the worldwide headquarters is just one block away from Fountain Square.
Although we couldnt attend, the local media here reports that many grass roots organizations and local businesses were distributing literature outlining items in short supply overseas. P&G manufactures all of the products that follow, many of which could be used by our troops. However, it was stated by a number of callers to WRKC Friday morning that P&G will not support the troops, saying that if they did they would have to support everything.
This is the same company that makes sizable donations to Guatemala, Afghanistan, France, China and Malaysia, Canada, Puerto Rico, Kenya, Korea, Mexico, and Japan to name a few. (Source: P&G 2002 Contributions Report, available online at www.pg.com) The worldwide contributions are worthwhile, but supporting our troops and the freedom we enjoy should be paramount.
Obviously, P&G will support everyone but our service personnel.
We have a number of the following products in our house and would like to organize an effort to return the products to P&G with the message that theyve lost our business forever. Anyone want to join us?

I thought we were supposed to boycott them because they satan worshippers.
To: LuLuLuLu
Sorry, I'm not going to base a boycott on what callers to a radio station said, and your presentation is quite vague. You're going to have to be much more detailed as to why a boycott of Proctor & Gamble is necessary.

I thought we were supposed to boycott them because they satan worshippers.I've boycotted them for many years after their oppressive ways were revealed in "Soap Opera" and the use of the Cinn police to gain access to employee's phone records to discover who it was who talked to a WSJ reporter. They are a corporate nutcase. (Sue me P&G. I dare you!)

I'm still boycotting them because they stiffed Dr. Laura. That and the Satan in the Moon thing.
I'm just wondering, do you think Boeing should donate planes/bombers/fighters since our boys really need those things?
Is it possible that P&G is already shipping mountains of that stuff to our boys and sending an invoice to the Pentagon?
Somehow I think it's better for you and I and those across America to support our troops one on one with those special things they need. And P&G, and Boeing, and all the other members of the military/industrial complex can do what they do best.

I'm surprised they do not make vaseline for the screwing they just gave us. P&G will be on my sh*t list. Notice who is on their list of people they donate to.

You can bet the employees get leaned on at United Way time, if necessary. (They don't play the "I think I'll set this one out" game.

Get over it. The Satan in the Moon thing? Get real.
This company has been boycotted year after year for something. Nonsense. It is a company selling products. It is not required to jump at the sudden whim of some caller, some movement, some goal to make them look unpatriotic.
They should absolutely stay clear of any tie-in with any group after all they have put up with over the years.
Also, this is the company that 7 years after my father's death - still sends the Christmas Basket to my mother. This is the company that provided stock that made my father - a laborer - wealthy and fully able to pay the $36000 per year for his wife in a nursing home after his death.
I resent time after time seeing these stupid boycotts attempting to harm this company.
I feel very sure they support the troops as many many of their employees are troops or family of troop members.

P&G is a bunch of spineless worms...they promote commies, queers and socialism. Next week, after we finish the work in Iraq, we should tell N. Korea, "Watch this...straighten up... or you will get the same." ...and then bomb P&G!
What a bunch of rats. I despise them.

I just had another thought. Maybe this already exists.
Is there, or can we start, a list of companies whose products and services we wish to avoid, giving a brief reason (or link) why we feel that way. We can FReep our own list, then forward the list to the offending companies.
I dunno...I just feel powerless sometimes. These commie rats just want our money and will perpetrate any scheme to try to get it. Let's start the list with P&G and Eastman Kodak.
Happy FReeping. -JR

Wow, as I read through your list of products (interesting to know they produce all of them - most often we consumers buy, and don't know who's behind the products), and amazingly enough, my family doesn't use even one off the list. WILD.
I must say this, though. My Dad flew 35 missions over Germany in B-24 Liberators, and Proctor and Gamble was smart enough to hire him right after the war.
I guess it's their decision-makers that have gone down hill.

That is interesting! I will say, I saw an article, can't remember if it was here at this site, American Legion, or www.adoptaplatoon.org saying we had troops in need of toilet paper.
I sent 2 requests for toilet paper donations for the troops at the form submittal (contact us) page on the Charmin section of the Proctor and Gamble site. I've yet to receive a response.
Sometimes the form submittals and emails aren't monitored too well. So I will try to call this time.
