A Pew Research Center poll last month similarly found black support for the war at the lowest level of any group questioned — 44 percent, compared to 73 percent among whites and 67 percent among Latinos.

44 percent support for the war among blacks is pretty impressive, I'd say, considering the 90%+ of blacks that habitually vote Democrat. Just goes to show how anyone can spin an analysis of statistical data.

Someone needs to inform this 45 year old Harlem resident that there is no military draft anymore and that the blacks that are in the service now enlisted. So if lots of blacks enlisted in the military, then lots of blacks enlisted. End of story.

Someone needs to inform this 45 year old Harlem resident that there is no military draft anymore and that the blacks that are in the service now enlisted. So if lots of blacks enlisted in the military, then lots of blacks enlisted. End of story.

Add to that the fact that the really dangerous missions are fought by special forces, and nobody gets a serious combat infantry position unless they really want it, and the result is that any casualties we have will still be tragic, but they will be inflicted on patriots who where proud to have the chance to serve their country.

And I guess that's why this argument really pisses me off. It is dishonest racebaiting for political gain. And it is an insult to the brave men who will give their lives so that others will be safer from state sponsored terrorism.

There are other sites as well that will completely refute this argument. Besides, even today you will notice that (big extrapolation based on personal experience) ALL combat arms units are predominately white and from a rural background. Even today the officers/NCOs are the biggest targets, a high school degree is a minimum for enlistment, a bachelors for a commission and the average age is way over 19. It is unfortunate, but most Americans get their facts from “Platoon” and other war soaps where every rumor and possible dysfunction is prescribed to a single platoon that is composed of inner city poor minorities (19 years old) fighting for “Da man” and led by an arrogant incompetent west point lieutenant. It is a tragedy that Hollywood writes our history.

The debunking went so far as to point out that whites were disporportionally represented in combat arms and that blacks were in REMF capacities by choice because "they were in it for the educational benefits".

Ironically, the supply chain is still essentially segregated (like in WWII) this time by choice of the blacks.

But yesterday, a Chicago Sun-Times columnist said It's time for blacks who back war to end silence.

An excerpt:

The polls most often cited, by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, show that 65 percent of whites favor the war, while 25 percent oppose the planned invasion. And 56 percent of women favor the war; 32 percent do not.

The same poll shows that 48 percent of African Americans oppose military action, while 41 percent are in favor.

But if you listen to commentators on the air--and those in the barbershop--you'd think all black people are against the war.

In the Left's desparation to hold on to power, I really don't find this too difficult to believe.

...Just the other while reading one of the chapters of Mona Charen's bestseller, "Useful Idiots", I did come across a paragraph in which she stated in so many words, how Democrats literally work to hide their true intentions; i.e., running as 'moderates', and so forth.

This only proves that the Democratic Party is ANYTHING but a party of inclusion.

I'm black and I must ask this man: Does he really think Saddam Hussein gives a crap about him being a "person of color" when he allows terrorists' groups train in his country? Does he really think that the Butcher of Baghdad is going to say, "Oh, I'd better not send this missile at the Americans because people of color are disproportionately represented in their military?"

Good grief! I'm so sick of hearing this garbage! Did those terrorist creep care that there were "people of color" in the Twin Towers or in the Pentagon? Again, I must ask, did this man protest so loudly when it was Clinton sending Tomahawk cruise missile into Iraq or when Clinton took us to Bosnia without U.N. approval.

Such hypocrisy reeks like centuries-old milk!

Let's face it. Those Americans, blacks and whites, who oppose the war on Iraq are Bush haters. I saw them during the demonstration in Portland, Oregon today. They were Bush haters. If Clinton (or Gore, God forbid) were President, they wouldn't be demonstrating.

I disagree. Any search for "Congressional district map NY," "US district map NY," "representative dictrict map," or "district map" on yahoo, lycos, or dogpile produces nothing. It is also not available from the House of Reps website or as a link to Ms. Lowey's website. Now, you may have superior computer skills, but the steps I took were only those the average voter in NY might follow. There is definitely something screwy going on.
