Anyone in the Boston Area?

Posted on 03/14/2003 7:23:08 AM PST by clg0107

I have a friend in Boston who would like to organize a Rally, and could use some other bodies to help.

I haven't seen anything here about anything already in the planning stages for March 22/23.

Thanks !

Christie

I might be willing to go... and to help spread the word to my rabidly conservative friends. The constant liberal media spin makes me ashamed of this state.

I'm in Boston...and I know quite a few College Republicans in the area that would jump at this. I would definitely be there!

The latest bit of silliness from the local Appeasement Now crowd is a line of picketers along major intersections of Mass Ave between MIT and the Arlington line. Methinks it would be a good idea to post a few Freepers along the way to leaven the proceedings.

The peaceniks are outrageous, and I'm in the mood to out-outrage them. How about if a couple of Freepers drove a sound truck along the picket line, with one of us standing up from the back of the truck wearing a CHICKEN costume, waving a "peace" sign labeled "the tracks of the American Chicken, with the sound track playing that old song titled "Aint nobody here but us chickens"! I am calling a costume shop in Arlington tomorrow morning to track down the costume. But I lack the truck and the PA system. Anyone interested in joining me in a little fun?

Addendum to previous message:

Some more details about what the appease-niks have planned for tomorrow:

"Saturday, March 15, Greater Boston: 10am until Noon: Stand Up for Peace Along Massachusetts Avenue. Groups and individuals with peace signs will stand on Mass Ave, from Lexington Center in Lexington, to Edward Everett Square in Dorchester.

Hey, a lot of students in the ROTC units at MIT/Harvard/Tufts are pretty fed up with all this nonsense and absurd propaganda the anti-war movement is spreading. We could get quite a few people active if we just had some prior knowledge about events. Let me know what's going on in Boston!

Well, it's too late to do anything about the appease-niks on Saturday, but I'm sure they'll be back sometime soon. There is supposed to be a big appeasement rally on the Boston Common on March 29th.

I am SERIOUS about the chicken costume & sound truck proposal, but I need some help putting wheels on it (no pun intended, of course!)

I am new to FREEP forums, and I am wondering if there could be a specialized forum to organize a proper response whenever the appeaseniks are on the street. In December, the appeaseniks set up a picket line in front of Wordsworth Bookstore in Harvard Square, and we had a well-organized phone tree which resulted in counter-picketers outnumbering the picketers! It worked very well: we would position two of us on either side of an appeasenik, and as soon as the appeasenik handed out a flyer, one of us would give the pedestrian our counter-flyer, saying "Please take a minute to read about the OTHER side of this debate" In most cases, we had the last word, and the appeaseniks finally gave up in frustration!

The appeaseniks seem to have the numbers on our side, certainly enough to pack Cambridge City Council meetings and pressure the City to pass idiotic anti-war and anti-Patriot Act resolutions. Those of us who love Freedom and love America need to be creative and well-organized. Just SHOWING UP, even if it's just a handful, is enough to send a message that the appeaseniks do not speak "for the people" , as their slogans often claim.
