Ron Maxwell, the director of GODS AND GENERALS, is wondering why Christians are not supporting this historically accurate, entertaining, and faith-filled movie?
This great movie, which contains many appeals to God and shows the sacred Christian roots of our American heritage, will be pulled from many theaters soon, even this week. Many movies last only a week or two in theaters and must capture momentum as soon as possible.
How can we get the word out on GODS AND GENERALS?
PLEASE email Christian teachers, homeschoolers, believers, pastors, historians, history buffs, etc., about GODS AND GENERALS. Tell them that time is running out if they want to make a difference in Hollywood.
Or, if you cannot do so, give us their email addresses, and we will tell them.
Please make GODS AND GENERALS a cause. Get Christians to see this movie TODAY. Tell them not to wait until tomorrow.
The politically correct elites are trying to stop this movie. Dont let them win!
You will love this movie!
If you dont, send me your ticket stub and I will take $5 off the price of the book for the movie, FAITH IN GOD AND GENERALS.
ACT NOW! Hollywood is watching. They wont make many more movies like GODS AND GENERALS if you wont support them at the box office. Your children and grandchildren are counting on you!
Please pass this on to others.
God bless you!
Ted Baehr

I don't spend money directly on Ted Turner projects. I don't care if it was a good movie or not. Ted gets revenue from the project. That revenue is revenue Ted can use to support the U.N. and groups and efforts that are anti-American. Eventually this will come to cable and I'll check it out.

I liked the movie. I wished it was longer.

Epic film of huge historical content. CBN.com was pushing attendance weeks in advance and both Maxwell and Steven Lang (Gen. Stonewall Jackson) were on the O'Rielly Factor days before it's opening. I'll send an email to Rush (don't know if he's plugged it) and to Hugh Hewitt. Thanks for the heads up.

I was tempted to see it, but I was put off by people saying it is long. Maybe I'll now reconsider.

Two words:
Ted Turner
To: Simi Valley Tom
I saw it last weekend. Personally, I thought it was a bit slow and could have benefited greatly from some editing, and that the dialogue parts were strangely stilted. I know they were taken directly from diaries and letters of the time, but people tend to be much more careful when putting their thoughts into writing than they are when speaking. Transposing one form of communication into the other without any adjustments for natural speech patterns made the dialogue scenes, particularly early on, seem oddly stagy and stylized. (I'm a professional writer myself, and I kept wishing they'd let me have a go at the dialogue before they'd filmed it).
On the whole, though, I enjoyed it because I am a big Southern history buff. Anyone predisposed to an interest in that subject should see it, but don't expect to be rousingly entertained. It's more of a history lesson than a dramatic triumph.

I'm sorry, but many of us who believe in affirmative action, harmonious racial relations, and Rainbow/PUSH Coalition are boycotting this movie because of it's association with a notorious racist who was (and, may still be) a member of the Klan.
My view is that he is still a key leader of a newly powerful anti-black organization that intends to continue the surpression of blacks all over the nation, not just in the South. The democrat party, for years, the only home of slave owners, is systimatically preventing black politicians from attaining status in their party with all black members of Congress being segregated in a step-n-fetchit blacks only Caucus.
So powerful is this latter day Kleagle that he felt free to use the N word on national TV, did so, and there wasn't a ripple from those who normally oppose racism.
One of the few ways we can oppose the crude racism of this Klan leader is to oppose the movie that he is associated with.

I agree. There is a superb 2 1/2 hour movie buried in this film. Too bad the film editors couldn't find it.

A lot of Christians don't go to movies, period.

I saw the movie last weekend. Four hours and you don't notice the length at all, other than the fact there is an intermission!!!
In spite of Ted Turner, go see this movie NOW. It is excellent, and judging by your screen name, you WILL LOVE this movie!

Revenue? What Revenue?
Ted is losing, and will lose, money hand over fist on this.
Only way he could lose money faster than Gods & Generals is to douse big stacks of hundred dollar bills in gasoline and set them on fire.

It seems only big theaters are showing it because smaller theaters do not think it will be big for their market. I am going to have to go to Wichita (60 miles) to see this movie, something that is unprecedented. I will be going with the history department here at my college; my professors are leading a field trip to see the movie Saturday.
It may not have had a huge showing at the box office, but I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that hardly any theaters are showing such a major film, which stuns me.

...many of us who believe in affirmative action, harmonious racial relations, and Rainbow/PUSH Coalition... You're either for affirmative action and the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, or you're for harmonious racial relations. You can't have it both ways.

One key problem is that with commercials and an intermission, this is a four hour movie. Theaters can show a two hour movie twice during the time it takes to present Gods and Generals. I agree that there is much magnificent content in this film, but the length just kills it. Remember the lesson from Lincoln's Gettysburg Address; his preceding speaker, Edward Everett, was noted as America's leading orator but had a 3 hour speech. Lincoln said more in 300 words.

a ted turner movie starring robert byrd... whom I also despise.
run the buggers out of town on a rail
NOT worth the cellulose it is printed on... give it a thumbs down to all you meet...
a few more flops and commie ted and his islamakazi loving byrd brain friend will be going to the poor house... a worthy goal.
and if there were a way to take down michael "freak show" jackson... I would recommend that too...

I was amazed by the christian theme in this movie.
I think it has the strongest christian theme of any movie I've seen. Truly. I was moved by it.
Hard to believe Ted is behind it.
