WHAT: Demonstration and Press Conference announcing boycott of French Products.
Highlighted by Dumping French wine in the gutter.
WHEN:
Los Angeles (All times Pacific)
Friday, March 7, 2003 at 12:00 Noon
Press Conference at 1:00 PM
New York (all times Eastern)
Friday, March 7, 2003 1:00
WHERE: French Consulate in Los Angeles
10990 Wilshire Boulevard
This is at the corner of Wilshire and Veteran, just east of the 405. The consulate is across the street from the Federal Building.
French Consulate in New York
WHY:
On March 7, the US will introduce yet another resolution to the U.N. This should be the last chance for France and the U.N. to join forces with us in defeating tyranny. We want to show France that the United States people do not need permission from them nor from the U.N. to protect ourselves from the threats of nuclear and biological weapons.
France has been given every opportunity to prove that they are with us. Instead, they have shown and again that they are against us. We are going to be dumping their wine in the gutter to initiate a boycott against French products and show the French diplomats at the consulate where their wine really belongs.
NOTES:
Please note the new time, 12:00 noon.
If you are planning the demonstration, please RSVP by sending email to cmorgan@calyaf.com.
Please bring a bottle (or bottles) of French wine to dump in the gutter. We will not be able to provide a bottle for everyone attending. Lets have full participation in the dumping so that we can show the French an entire block of people dumping their precious wine down the drain. If you need ideas on where to find cheap French wine, please call 714-658-2190.
The UCLA Bruin Republicans have joined us as an event Co-Sponsor.
The New York YAF chapter has announced that they will join us in front of the French Consulate in New York at 1:00 Eastern Time. If you have any questions regarding the New York demonstration, contact newyorkyaf@aol.com
If you need transportation to the demonstration, we can try and put you in contact with someone in your area who is driving up to Los Angeles. We have caravans coming from San Diego, Orange County, the Inland Empire, Santa Barbara, as well as all parts of Los Angeles County.

I may bring some Perrier water to rinse the gutters and remove the stench of French wine from our streets.

I like the idea of dumping the French wine (good idea), but doesn't that mean you'd have to buy a bottle first? (bad idea).
I guess you could always shoplift a bottle--LOL.

I've been buying Israeli wine, some of which is actually quite nice. There is really good Israeli feta cheese as well.

And some English beer and Austalian wine might be in order as well...

Be ready for liberal counter-protestors from "Heal The Bay", the environmental
group that does push the worthy (but probably untainable goal) of diminishing run-off
and gutter pollution that runs into Santa Monica Bay.
Perhaps the best protest would be to threaten to pour the French wine into the gutter,
but then say "Why would we want to pollute the beautiful coast of the USA with
the 'wine of whiners'?"

Many have noted that it is self-defeating to buy wine for dumping.
However, buying wine will not help the French, unless we import it from France. American retailers have already purchased French wine, and the French have already been paid. The wine cannot be returned.
Initially a boycott will hurt only the American retailer because the retailer will be stuck with unsellable wine. If we buy the wine on sale (probably at cost), the American merchange can recover some of the cost.
It is then up to the merchant NOT to order more wine to replenish its stock. French companies will begin to feel the sting when in the coming weeks and months, American stores do not purchase more wine.

Good idea, I'll have to head down to our state store and ask for some Israeli wine. The only Jewish wine I've had is "Magen David" (smile).

I expect that the Los Angeles Chapter of the Free Republic Network will support the efforts of the Young Americans for Freedom whenever we can, but we also have an LA Chapter meeting on SATURDAY (3/8) and
Sean Hannity's remote broadcast from Redondo Beach from noon to 3pm on THURSDAY (3/6) - so THIS WEEK is a busy time.
Nevertheless, here is an LA Chapter PING!Vive la YAF!

Nah, why not HELP them sell French wine by creating a nice ad campaign? A crowd of guys dressed as the town drunk in front of the French embassy, with bottles in bags prominently labeled "Bottled in France" and seated at a lovely cafe table in the gutter, with a greasy bag of fast food or- heaven forbid, a cob of corn- would make a lovely promotional piece for the French wine industry...(the French would hate that)
I am sure some captions can be added to the photos for good measure, perhaps "When scarfing bellybombers, only the finest French wine will do" or "French wine and a doggie bag : a match made in heaven," etc, (someone can think of better captions) and they can be mailed directly to anyone or displayed proudly as posters or brochures. Nothing like showing people just how classy their products are...

California wine...produced by illegals who send money out of the country while bankrupting emergency facilities and driving up health care costs. Yes, by all means support these terrorists.
