I raised my son on Mr. Rogers. Wonderful memories of watching the show with my son on my lap. Also hearing his records on my sons fisher price record player. I will miss him. God Bless Mr. Rogers

I don't know what everyone elses excuse is but I'm at work on the air at a radio staion (in the town where Mr Rogers Neighborhood started)and don't have the time. It's been tough enough just following this thread, LOL!.
The phones are going crazy. We just did an interview with Mr McFeely and I believe we're going to have Joe Negri (a fantastic guitarist who helped on MRN and played one of the characters)up soon.

I feel much older this morning after reading this. I'll hold the "wiser" part in abeyance.
Fair winds and following seas, Fred Rogers.

I feel sorry for young kids. Mr. Rogers and Captain Kangaroo had such gentle shows that incorporated children's natural inquisitiveness about the world.
Barney and Teletubbies are too phony, PC and just plain weird.
Sesame Street is ok, I guess.
But most Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network shows are frenetic, violent, and jaded.
Mr. Rogers will be missed here on earth. May he be welcomed to heaven as dearly as he was liked here.

Liberals can rightly point to Mister Rogers and Sesame Street as two of the great successes of Public Television. It's painful to imagine those shows broken up by commercials for action figures and sugary cereal. One form of Big Government I didn't mind, especially considering the swill that passes for children's TV on every other channel. Conservatives can point out that this kind, Godly man, will probably be the last minister ever to receive air-time at tax-payer expense.

We just did an interview with Mr McFeely and I believe we're going to have Joe Negri (a fantastic guitarist who helped on MRN and played one of the characters)up soon. Sheesh the childhood memories are now flooding back. Joe Negri also used to be on Paul Shannon's show on WTAE.

I am actually weeping as I type this note. He was a wonderful man and a great influence on our children and myself. You are so right leadpenny. He would want us to say " It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood". I am sure he is resting in the arm of God right now. God Bless his memory!

It'a beautiful day in God's neighborhood. Mr. Rogers is home.
To: prisoner6
I liked him because he was so kind and gentle in "ungentle" times.
To: prisoner6
I'm also glad he got his Medal of Freedom from President Bush before he passed.

I knew they were typo's. We all make them. Don't worry about it. :) I make them pretty badly when my kids are around or late at night when I'm sleepy. Good friends can pick through typo's and understand what we mean. ((hugs)) Have a good day.

Now I have to debate whether or not to tell my 4 year old. One of the greatest lessons taught by Mr. Rogers was that children should be told the Truth gently. All children will face loss in their lives. Mr. Rogers has died, but he gave us so much during his life.
I suggest you use this opportunity to experience loss with the security of love and hope with your 4 year old. This will be on the news all day, and is better explained by you. Break the news and snuggle up on the couch together with a box of Kleenex handy. Mr. Rogers will forever live in our hearts.
