Ahhhhhhhhh
It feels so good to say that I am finally leaving southern Kalifornaistan. Good-bye Gray Davis, Good-bye LA, Good-bye Highway 5 and 405 at 5 in the afternoon!
Good-bye draconian gun control!
Im taking a job with a company thats flight department is based out of Salt Lake City and the wife and I began looking for a place about a month ago, slowly working our way around the area. One weekend we just decided to drive up to Jackson Hole WY and instantly fell in love. The drive was wonderful up I-15 to Ogden and the total trip was around 290 miles, thats if I ever need to drive it.
We immediately found a nice lady at Jackson Hole Reality to help us locate our dream home and well, the rest will be history shortly.
Being in corporate aviation one of the perks that comes with a FT job in a Fortune 50 company is usually travel passes. My future company has travel passes with Delta and Skywest into and out of SLC, so I can commute to and from work directly out of JAC into SLC, then make my way to our corporate hanger on the same field.
The only downside (if you want to call it that) is that Im leaving the flight deck of the worlds greatest bizjet IMHO, the Gulfstream V for its direct competitor the Bombardier Global Express, which this company has a pair of. On the up side its more pay, cheaper cost of living and better benefits not to mention the view out our newly purchased backdoor is kick a$$!!!

I'm sorry, but I get REALLY irritated by this! It's "LOSE", not "LOOSE".
Lose is to "lose" something.
Loose is not tight.
And while I'm at it,
TO: I'm going TO be insane.
TOO: I will be insane TOO.
THEY: They are going crazy.
THEY'RE: They're going crazy. (they are)
THERE: The looney bin is there.
THEIR: Their house is the looney bin.
There! I feel better now! :)

No, we simply need to split it into three states.
Northern California with all the Berkley crowd enjoying themselves in their own special planetary realm.
Southern California which would include L.A. and certain parts of Riverside County...where the schools systems could decay in peace, and no one else in CA would have to be $ucked dry because of them.
and...
New California (kind of like New Mexico) which would include Palm Springs, Orange County and most of San Diego county....ALL of which have realized that being Republican holds a much brighter future for us all. We'd near to immediately fix our fiscal issues, live in luxury and peace, and the rest of the No. & So. CA would be dumbfounded as to just how we did it and want us back.
Never!
Ah...the American Dream!

Your right, so much for my proof reading skills, guess I'd better stick to aviation.

Anyway, now that I've made a fool of myself insulting you, may I welcome you to the red zone. And thanks for the Northern Utah plug, it is beautiful here. Wait until late April and early May, you'll be blown away!

To paraphrase what many Texans have said about a certain company slightly north of Dallas,
Happiness is... Kalifornia in your rear-view mirror -- for the last time!

Jackon Hole is my favorite place on earth. I'm sooooo jealous. Congratulations and best of luck to you. Hoping to move back to Wyoming before I die. I can't afford to live in Jackson Hole though. Heard the property taxes there are steep.
To: T Minus Four
I truly look forward to it, from what Ive already seen I cannot wait!

Better not leave a forwarding address or Gray-out Davis will surcharge your utility bill
Probably not, but he WILL be taxing your retirement benefits, no matter where you live in the future, since you were based in Kali.
I, too, don't miss the "5-405" freeway mess....I spent 24 years doing the Sepulveda Impasse thing until I hung it up last spring. Didn't get out of Kalifornia, but did get into the "blue zone".

I lived in Wyoming (Green River & Casper) for the better part of the 90's. I would have considered staying if I could have got a decent paying (and non-union) job. But my line of work isnt conducive to high salary anyway.
Hope everything works out for you. Good luck.

Did I make a mistake? Other than the Valley-girl "like", I don't see it.

Somewhere, someplace, there is a tape of William Jefferson Clinton saying those exact words to his intern....

Ahem,
You need to gerrymander the New California state line to include the Central Valley. We are also conservative up here.

Congrats on the move. I left San Diego, CA for Pocatello, ID in December 2000. No regrets. If I need to drive to SLC, it takes about 2 1/2 hours. I only do that if I can't get a good rate by connecting from PIH to SLC. SkyWest handles the PIH to SLC route. They use Embraer 320 aircraft running on a 2 hour bounce between PIH and SLC from 8 AM to 11 PM.

No, I was running with your 12-step suggestion and teasing our poster about his spelling. I, like, totally liked your "like"
