The American President

Hes had more reason to fail than any President in modern History, and sometimes, the only thing that surpasses the viciousness of the attacks from the left, is the viciousness of the attacks from the far right.
He is reminded over, and over again that his presidency was a "gift", and the unkind, unflattering comparisons to his fathers failed bid for a second term, more often than not, turn into predictions of failure yet to come. Yet his popularity among Americans is of historical proportions.
Hes been called inept and bumbling, even as he maneuvers his way across the burning embers of American politics with incredible dexterity, and arriving at the least of all expected destinations: victory.
Some call him a globalist, even as he shows contempt for the United Nations by turning his back on treaties that would threaten American sovereignty, while others accuse him of acting unilaterally against enemy nations.
He is openly pro-life in a nation where the murder of unborn babies has been elevated to status of a right, and is the sort of Christian who does not profess to be perfect, but rejoices in being forgiven.
He loves family, country and flag, and theres very little question that the tear in his eye is anything other than a reflection of the emotion in his heart.
He is plain spoken and direct, with a propensity of stumbling over one word or another in a speech. But rather than knocking him down, it seems to endear him to a population that can easily imagine making the very same mistake if they would ever find themselves in a similar situation.
He is Mr. Smith, Kilroy, Shane, and Joe Everyman all rolled into one, the personification of the every day citizen, and while some suggested that he lacked the Beltway savvy to succeed, it was that very thing that attracted so many to him.
He faced the darkest hour in recent American history, and standing on the smoking remains of the Republic, above the fires and destruction, he raised high The Stars and Stripes, making us all believe that our finest hour was yet to come.
Hes confounded pundits, bewildered critics, and bedazzled opponents with a casual, easy charm that more often than not masks a grasp of the issues few believed he could achieve.
George W. Bush represents the triumph of the everyday man.
I support this president because I believe him, and I believe that what he does, he does because his heart tells him that it is the right thing to do for this nation.
And tonight, hell stand facing no one but us, because its the state of OUR Union that hell address. And standing there, hell chart a path for this nation in accordance to the only polls that matter to him...his conscience, and his love for this land.
But he wont stand alone, because Ill stand with him.
Im standing with George W. Bush tonight, and I am seeing this fight through with him.
Im standing with the American President, and Im asking those who will stand with me, to make your presence known, and let your voices be heard tonight.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts..... I hope that as a country we can try to gather at least for a few moments and try to steady the ship of state and add strenght to its cause.
Disregard the naysayers that appear as they have nothing to add on this night honoring our Nation.

The occasional good word for the President unencumbered by "buts" and "on the other hands" and "(fill in the blank) said..." isn't going to kill the Republic. This is his night; wish him well. Tomorrow you can go back to grumbling.

Well, when you hang a slow one over the plate...SOMEONE's going to take a swing at it, if for no other reason than grins and giggles...

I love your quote and agree wholeheartedly....but this IS a beautiful and heartfelt tribute (I didn't love the "far right" part but not a big deal...). He doesn't say we should never criticize the guy when he is on the wrong track. Besides, you and I aren't going anywhere. LOL

Not having the depth of thought to appreciate what Teddy was saying.
There's a reason why his Presidency transcended mediocrity,
and he's considered to have been one of our greatest Presidents.
Ignore the message and shoot the messenger. Oh well... what else is new?
To: Pahuanui
Somehow, I doubt that.
Class warriors concentrate on origins and material net worth. That could be why you do not appear to get it. But that's ok, because it does seem as though a majority of Americans do.
To: Willie Green
Don't you mean Go Pervert Go........
Any man that is so filled with hatred for our president that he would consider allowing Scott Ritter on his show to bash the President is not fit to be considered in any context at all.
