A soldier on leave from the US Army stopped off in a Conoco station to fill his vehicle and is told by the Middle Eastern man running the place to leave because he is a murderer.
Houston FReepers, if you have the information about the address of the station and the number to Conoco, please spread around. Houstonians are already calling into Conoco demanding the oil company take the franchise away from the man who did this to our military.
If you live in Houston, please fill this thread with more information. I am doing my usual stuff in getting my daughter ready for school and am unable to sit and listen for more pertinent details.
Make that Middle Eastern man feel the wrath!

How? The guy wasn't denied service. In fact, he was given a free tank of gas. What part is illegal?

His actions reflect on the Conoca Corporation and the corporation has every right to strip his franchise license if his conduct reflects poorly on the corporation.
"Abdul's Mom & Pop Gas Station" may have a right to do this. "Abdul's Conoco Gas Station" has to toe the Conoco corporate line or lose his franchise license.
I was specifically referring to lawsuits revolving around the question of defamation.
If Person A calls Person B a child molestor in front of Person C (Person B's boss), and Person C immediately terminates Person B's employment, then Person B has a valid defamation case against Person A.
If Person C say, "Well, if Person A is saying bad things about you, there's gotta be some previously undetected good there," and immediately grants Person B a 100% raise, stock options, and a big dinner at a five-star restaraunt..."
The rule on defamation is "No hurt, no foul."
Conoco may not be able to do a whole lot.
Generally a station will either be company owned or branded. The company owned station (usually the larger, open 24/7, high volume, mini-mart/car wash, carry all fuel grades and diesel) is usually leased to the operator. They can’t do much until the lease expires, usually.
If it’s a branded station (usually the smaller, non-24/7, mom/pop type stations) about the only thing they can do is pull the signs. They’d probably have to wait until the contract expired to do that too.
I know I bitch about the school system because my husbands paycheck is held for ransom to pay for all the idiotic things that go on in the public school system. And why should he attend school board meetings when his kids are already out of school? He no longer has a dog in that fight,,,but by no means does that mean he should shut up about it. AGain, I only hear him echo what callers say.
City councils deserve getting critcized. Otherwise they develope the nasty habit of believing they are unaccountable. 'Nuff said.
And you're saying the only people who CAN gripe about education are those who have college degrees???? I wouldn't be surprised if you told me, a college graduate, that the only way MY opinion could be legitimate is if I have a GRADUATE degree, something I havent found worthy of my time yet. When does it stop?

Waiting for the facts, you mean? Yeah, you'd never get anywhere, if where you wanted to get was to turn out to be wrong, or mistaken, or misunderstood, in which case you would have this store clerk crying he was unfairly targeted because of his ethnic origin and the media will have a field day with it, knowing how the national media are.
But if you want to punish the guilty without lynching the innocent, you will wait for the facts. That's all I've been saying all along.
Doesn't matter. Whatshisname wasnt Middle Eastern with a hatred for our military. The puke at the gas station was. It is now December 19, 2002, well over a year after September 11. Middle Easterners are not regarded with the same kindness as they used to be. I used to have a benign respect for them. Not any longer.
My hope is Conoco tracks this guy down and reports him to the Feds and sends him on his way. If he really wanted to take advantage of our freedoms, he can find a job elsewhere. And Im sure there are plenty of sand fleas back home with the money to support him until he does. Pity for this guy is unwarranted.
