EAGLES UP! Middle Eastern Man tells US Army soldier on leave: "You aren't welcome here!" [HOAX]

Happening in Houston

Reported on KSEV, Houston, The Voice, Jon Matthews show...

A soldier on leave from the US Army stopped off in a Conoco station to fill his vehicle and is told by the Middle Eastern man running the place to leave because he is a murderer.

Houston FReepers, if you have the information about the address of the station and the number to Conoco, please spread around. Houstonians are already calling into Conoco demanding the oil company take the franchise away from the man who did this to our military.

If you live in Houston, please fill this thread with more information. I am doing my usual stuff in getting my daughter ready for school and am unable to sit and listen for more pertinent details.

Make that Middle Eastern man feel the wrath!

EAGLES UP!

If an AMERICAN said that to "someone from a middle eastern country" how quick would there be a lawsuit and public flogging?

In the proverbial heartbeat.

He went into pay and the clerk, who was Middle Eastern, asked if he was in the military. "yes sir," was Sean's reply. the ME man told him "Get out! Get out! You are not welcome here. US Army are murderers." Sean said "Let me pay for my gas." The ME man said "NO! Get out. Your money is not welcome here."

So the Middle Eastern guy gave this person that he hated a free tank of gas? If that's the case, everyone should go there in uniform!

Reading your posts makes me wonder if you just want to reduce it to mere technicalities and legalities.

I've seen what happens when a mob gets enraged against a business. 'T'ain't pretty. And many times, the initial impulse is false. Remember Ray Donovan's question after his acquital.

The story sounded nice and sensational.

That's kind of why I tended to disbelieve it.

LibertyGirl77: .........as long as this guy is an American citizen, what he did isn't illegal...........

Thackney: ..........illegal for a public business to discriminate..........

Thackney: Thanks! My my thoughts eggs-act-lee.

LibertyGirl77: Then what about all those lawsuits over the years against Dennys by African-Americans who claimed "non-service" as acts of bigotted, racist discrimination?

What he did WAS illegal!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just heard on KSEV..Talk show host tried to get in touch w/ owner of gas station but the owner is "out of the country". The clerks at the store are denying it of course.

Hopefully this store will at least have one security camera installed to catch the incident on (silent) videotape.

If the clerk actually called the soldier a, "murderer," that is not legal, and could actually be prosecuted for a number of things including, "verbal assault," "defamation," (that would be civil I believe), and possibly, "descrimination," or "hate-something."

I don't think so - at least that's not my understanding of how the law works. I don't believe that it is a criminal act to merely call someone a murderer, particularly out of the presence of witnesses. For a civil case, the soldier would have to show monetary damages arising from that insult. Either way, I don't see a case.

Exactly.

First, you need witnesses.

Second, in a civil case, you need to demonstrate real-world impact (getting fired, getting arrested, et cetera).

Have I in ANY post advocated tearing down the gas station????????? I am still waiting to hear back from teh radio station this was reportd on what the number to Conoco is...as a matter of fact, one of the executives from Conoco called Jon Matthews saying they were looking into this and were very appalleed to hear of this. Which leads ME to believe they don't get this all the time.

And yes, that person has the right to tell a person to get out...but as an American I have just as much right to tell the ME to get out of my country if he can't show proper respect for the people who secure the rights he is enjoying.

Stone Mountain, sounds like a good plan to me! The "Riot" should come in the form of uniformed men marching into the store en masse asking for their free gasoline since he was so willing to let one private go with free gas.

I know...but, damnit, I know how Marines would've handled it.

"Uh, I haven't paid for my gasoline."

"I don't want your money!"

"Suit yourself, sir. Have a nice day."

Later, in barracks: "Hey, go to Achmed's Conoco on Main Street, and let him know just before you have to get out the wallet that you're in the military. He'll kick you out and say he doesn't want your money!"

Now THAT is a sign of a razor-sharp tactician :o)

No. And nobody tore down buildings in the cases I'm discussing. Instead, the poor SOB got to file Chapter 11.

Like I said, Ray Donovan's question could easily be relevant here.

Sean said "Let me pay for my gas." The ME man said "NO! Get out. Your money is not welcome here."
This was inexcusable.
Now the people at the gas station are denying it happened.

They can hardly deny it happened if the accounting through the pumps and what was taken in ....... or NOT taken in, in this case, in the cash and/or credit card receipts doesn't reconcile at the end of the day.

How? The guy wasn't denied service. In fact, he was given a free tank of gas. What part is illegal?

And don't forget to give a call to Homeland Security to have them keep a close eye on this guy.

So all those lawsuits against Denny's exhibited a real world impact how? The horror of not getting your Grand Slam as fast as the table next to you?

OK, you're right, a cheap shot I made. But if we did things your way on this issue, then we'd never get anywhere. It's just like I said, the army frowns on this publicity, the story can't be documented as you like in the media unless the soldier sacrifices his career.

Re your # 4..I would verify the validity of this story before I started calling that store...get all your ducks in a row first.

Extremely valid point.

Some of these people should read "The Ox Bow Incident"...a literary classic about the lynching of an innocent man by an angry mob who didn't bother to get the facts before hanging the wrong man.

HoustonCurmudgeon, am sorry that you dislike Jon Matthews, but appreciate you tuning in. Perhaps you can help give us the details??? Would appreciate it. I am listening right now to commercials, so I am still on 'standby.' >

I assume you are asking why I don't like Jon? If so :

He talks of being a Marine all the time but seldom points out he was a reservist. That's ok but he plays on the jargon all the time and acts like he has some idea what is going on. Last month he and a local congressman were mad because on-duty Navy personnel where paying for their meals. He had never heard of seperate rations pay.

He bitches about our school district all the time (we live in the same town) and says send your kids to private school or home school them. BOTH his boys went to and graduated from, FBISD schools. Why didn't he home school them given his wife doesn't work and has a teaching degree? He NEVER attends a board meeting.

He bitches about our city council and makes PERSONNEL attacks upon members without ever attacking their policy. This is liberal crap. I welcome facts, not his calling people he disagrees with names. He NEVER attends council meetings.

He talks Ft Bend politics but refuses to let you complete a sentence when you call him on it. He talks over you, repeats the same stupid question over and over, or changes the subject.

He attacks politicians appearance and in one case their wife. He has done this repeatedly, though he is short, over weight, ugly and has a wife who I have NEVER heard speak six words, though I have met her a dozen times. Attacking policy is great, liberals attack appearance. It is really odd when you aren't much to look at yourself.

Jon repeatedly gripes about education. He has about a year of college.

He supports local politicians he likes, regardless of their ability to do the job. I on the other hand have people I love and would give my life for, but would never vote for. I will also support a more conservative, less ego driven person, even though I don't care for them.

If you want more, FReep mail me. BTW I have told Jon most of this to his face, and some of my problems with him do not show up on the air but do in his local newspaper column.
