Posted on 12/03/2002 5:33:45 AM PST by 68-69TonkinGulfYachtClub

One of the purposes of the Canteen is to honor veterans.
Many vets will be spending another holiday season in a VA hospital.
Some vets will suffer from holiday depression.
Will YOU take the time to make a vet smile this Holiday Season?

Another great thread!

The holiday depression thingy, is something that I have dealt with for 30 years. I do not understand it, nor can I stop it from happening.

The fact that there is a forum to read that even acknowledges that it does in fact exist, makes my day a bit brighter.

Thanks Tonk! From all of us!

LOL...I am really enjoying the cold weather here in Minnesota! It is such a different kind of cold then what we had on the coast of California! There you would feel cold to the bone at much higher temperatures. Here, it is in the 20's and still feels great! Except your nose can freeze if you don't cover it over! LOL.

So sorry about the holiday blahs. I think when you live in the northern areas it is even worse because it is darker during the day. Maybe this will make you smile

Thanks Misty!

I have found that since I have been participating in the FR family, I have not had to deal with it like I did before. It seems like the good folks that I have met here, (like yourself) have created a diversion of sorts.

I spend less and less time mulling the old memories and more time thinking about the present and the future.

Old habits are hard to break, but they can be broken.

Thanks again!

Pittsburgh:

High: Really cold

Low: Really Really Cold as in a kid from Los Angeles should be at home.

God bless all the military, the vets, our allies and all the families.

We pray to God that your talents and skills will not be put in harm's way and thank God that if that happens you are the best fighting forces this planet has ever seen!

A man has six children and is very proud of his achievement. He is so proud
of himself that he starts calling his wife "Mother of Six" in spite of her
objections.

One night they go to a party. The man decides that it's time to go home, and
wants to find out if his wife is ready to leave as well.

He shouts at the top of his voice, 'Shall we go home now Mother of Six?"

His wife, irritated by her husbands lack of discretion shouts back...
"Anytime you're ready, Father of Four!"
