Suzie Terrell needs your help in Louisiana runoff!
Posted on 11/06/2002 5:23:32 PM PST by strick68
Suzie Terrell will face the incumbent Democrat Mary Landrieu (sp?) in a runoff for the U.S. Senate seat in Louisiana on Dec. 7th. According to Hugh Hewitt http://www.hughhewitt.com the new campaign finance laws DO NOT APPLY TO THIS RACE!!! This race will immediately become a Democrat soft money party in an effort to deny the Republicans the opportunity of padding their new lead in the Senate. We must help Suzie in whatever way we can. Her website http://www.suzieterrell.com does not accept online donations (yet) but you can call (225)218-8683 or donate by mail to: Suzanne Haik Terrell for U.S. Senate PO Box 44267 Baton Rouge, LA 70804 If she wins and the John Thune/Tim Johnson race in South Dakota breaks our way, we will have a lead of 53-47-1 over the 'RATS and Independent Jumpin' Jim Jeffords!! Let's help this good woman by donating!! And if you can, try to get down to Louisiana to walk precincts for her. Go to http://www.stomp4victory.org for information. And a special thanks to Hugh Hewitt for this information.

Thank you. I stand absolutely corrected. I knew that the "effective date" of the CFR was 6 November, 2002. I do not have a copy of that law in hand, and did not know it specificially exempted "runoffs" from "elections conducted prior to that date." So I was dead wrong, and you are right. The Louisiana runoff is the last election in the known universe which will be conducted under the old rules of campaign finance. That is, the last one until we can get the CFR struck down in court as unconstitutional.

I haven't seen anything yet about a FReeper Rally in Louisiana for this effort. Is it still on the table??? I'm in Missouri, and it's only a bit of a drive for me, but would be well worth it! (Cuz I've never been to LA before). We ought to rally up as many "local" FReepers as we can, at least those who are only a days drive away or so. LETS GET THIS THING ROLLING!!!

"This should be an easy sell. Does Louisiana want a Senator who is part of the minority,..."Excellent point: Landrieu will be sitting on the sidelines in the next Congress!

Our Louisiana, republican governor, Foster, came out on the air yesterday and said that he could NOT endorse either of the candidates. This man is a former democrat, who endorsed sen. Breaux during his last run for the senate, while Foster himself was a republican governor at the time. The state radio shows have played and replayed his comments since yesterday afternoon. Thye have given out his number and the calls are coming in. I just called, 225-342-7015 AND MADE MY OUTRAGE KNOWN. This is the man who is in charge of the La. Repub. Office, They call and write for donations. I told them this morning that I will not make anymore contributions to the La. repub. party, if they do not take a position on this today. The la. Repub. women are outraged. Suzie has a good chance of winning this one. It will very difficult with all of the history voter fraud. Landrieu got in illegally last time with dead voters pulling her over the edge. I called her number last night that is listed on her web site. The person answering the phone did not know where the sites for headquarters will be located. They better get it together real quick, cause Mary is really nervous about this race.
If anyone say Mary on TV the other night, she looked and sounded like she had taken in more than her share of "adult beverages". SHe was clapping and moving to some jazz sounding music. It put in mind of the same swinger-look that Tipper had on the drums the night Algore lost the election.

Suggest you post a photo so all Freepers know the outside packaging is more attractive than "Brown Roots" (Susie is on the left just for the photo-op)

Yes, Suzie Terrell will get the support of the other two Republicans in the race. In fact, one of them, John Cooksey, endorsed her yesterday morning. Dr Cooksey received 14% of the vote. The other pubbie, Tony Perkins, received 10% and has not made a public statement about the runoff. I spoke with his office this morning. They assured me that he supports President Bush and wants to see a Republican Senator. He is young, energetic, very conservative, attractive and ambitious. He was a marine and currently he is state representative. He authored Louisiana's Covenant Marriage law. IMHO, he would make an excellant governor and I hope he decides to run. I'm sure he'll support Terrell or his political career will be dead in the water. LOL.
BTW, Mary Landrieu fired her team of political consultants yesterday morning. LOL

When I first heard that Gov. Foster said that I couldn't believe it. I called his office to find out exactly what he said and then let them know exactly what I thought about it. Apparently, he said he was friends with both candidates and he would support the one who ran the "cleanest" race. I hit the roof. I said in light of how Landrieu got to the senate in the first place there should be little doubt as to what kind of race she runs.

Thank you so very much. Please take a moment to look over the volunteer options at
Suzie's website. In the runoff, just as in Tuesday's election, turnout will be key. We must have a huge republican turnout to beat Landrieu.
