More Crew to come...

Carnival's cruise ship Triumph docked at St. Thomas.

Ahoy, Freepers!  Why not make your next year's vacation a FREEPER CRUISE? Can't think of a better idea!
United we stand for conservative activism AND some good old-fashioned fun, too!

This cruise thread will be running right up until embarkation day.  It'll be packed with lots of information.
Post your enthusiastic comments here.  Links are provided below for stateroom/fares information, registration form and
the Bahama Mama Q&A thread devoted solely to answers for all your cruise questions and to provide you with smooth sailing.

We strongly urge you to register ASAP.  We need a certain number of registrations by a mid-January cutoff date
to ensure our reserved block of cabins with Carnival.  From many communications we've received since last year's terrific cruise,
we're certain the interest is out there.  We don't want to have to deep-six this event if we don't get enough registrations in a timely manner.
PLEASE NOTE to hold off on making your air tickets reservations until we give you the go-ahead.
We have more than ample lead-time for this cruise and you'll be able to get good air-fare bargains in plenty of time!
Since some air-transportation tickets are non-refundable, we don't want anyone to be left holding the ditty-bag.

As an incentive for early registration, the first 20 Freepers to get their reservations into the travel agency
will win their choice of five (5) sheets of Ocents.com stamp sheets (go to that website for Seeking the Truth's array of terrific stamps!)
They will also receive a usflagballoon.com pin courtesy of Abner (check out Abner's usflagballoon website
to view the colorful pin and some excellent pictures of the US Flag Balloon!)  Registrations will be dated and time-stamped by the agency.
Winners will be notified and they'll receive their gift stamps and pins via mail.

We've got a great contest planned for later.  A lucky winner will receive a FREE cabin for two!
Last year, the contest was won by our Freeper pal, Taxman.  This time it may be you!

Bookmark this thread.  We'll keep you posted as plans evolve.  Register now for this fun-filled getaway in the sun!
Informal FRN meetings will be held on board which will be full of information and idea-sharing for effective conservative activism.

Rock the boat with your fellow Freepers!  Climb aboard today!

This page is for general comments about the cruise.
If you have questions, do not post them here.
Use the Bahama Mama link and ask them there.
Thank you!

Interesting - thanks for the info on the Jamaica Lyme. I use Drakkar myself, but since its made in France, it has the annoying side effect of making me terrified of my own shadow and dropping whatever weapon I happen to be holding and running away ;)

This cruise sounds wonderful, but I'm afraid we cannot attend because of the dates. Our son is graduating from college at the end of May 2003, and we'll have many relatives from California visiting here for several days during the dates of the cruise. To FReepers who do go on the cruise: Have a fabulous time!

Thanks very much for your kind words. I forgot to mention in my post above that we had a GREAT time last year on the first FR cruise. Please keep us posted on any future FR events... :-)

Smoking is permitted in cabins. You don't have to request a smoking cabin.

Alas, skeet shooting is no more on cruise ships. Not environmently correct. The clay pigeons are not biodegradable, so I hear.

NOTICE: If you plan on going on this cruise, please get your registration form and deposit in now, if possible. We have only 10 more days to assess whether this cruise is viable and if there's enough interest to continue with plans. Thanks for your cooperation.

Remember, there's some nice little premiums for the first 20 registrant early-birds!

LOL!

I will never, ever, ever forget the first time an H-8 hydraulic cat fired at night while I was asleep in the JO bunkroom in the USS Kearsarge (CVS-33) during my first at-sea period in the spring of 1966.

The bunkroom was one deck below the flight deck and was between the #1 and #2 cats, roughly midway down the cat track. Every time a cat fired, it sounded like a 200 mm howitzer going off, followed by the 100++db roar of two unmuffled R-1820 engines passing overhead (the dopplar effect was kind of a neat sound, actually) and other loud mysterious noises.

The worst part of a launch was not the noise though; it was that all kinds of crap fell out of the overhead every time one of the cats fired!

After a while, the launch noise became just background noise, and I conditioned myself to sleep through it.

But that first night sure was memorable!

Thanks for the memory!

The good news is that some reservations are coming in.

There'll be one more, come Thursday. The only thing I'm waiting on is to make darned sure that my company doesn't want me to fly to Japan and/or China during that time. (I'm going to miss CPAC as it is due to an unscheduled, last-minute side trip; b***ards ...).

I will be going and I will find a djembe drum in Ocho Rios if it kills me. Its just not an Amtgard event without somebody playing a decent djembe, and the only one our drummer has sounds like an oatmeal box.

C'est la vie, c'est la guerre. I'll just have to find other targets on this trip ;)

Concur. The O branchers in our det were warned repeatedly to take a mosquito net head covering on our TAD trips; we found out why the first time they launched aircraft aboard the Enterprise during night ops when we were in our bunks. I sleep with my mouth open, and it would have been full of paint chips, insulation, and deity knows what else from the overhead without the netting.

Hopefully Carnival Cruise Lines has higher standards for employee health practices than Holland America does. Check today's news - and take a bottle of Pepto Bismal, just in case. :)

I just registered! I am officially going on the cruise! I selected the 8a cabin with the veranda. I get claustrophobia, and the idea of a cabin without windows is not appealing. I am soooo excited.

Hooray, Utah Girl! Great news. I took the 8A cabin also. Maybe we'll be next-door neighbors and can sit out on the verandah some morning watching the tranquil sea go by and sipping a tasty Bloody Mary with giant celery sticks to stir with. Maybe a monkey hanging on the side of the glass, also!

That is what appealed to me, a quiet morning and a nice drink of juice, watching the sea go by. But I want those umbrellas in my drinks. :)
