UPDATE: PATRIOTS RALLY FOR AMERICA II, OCTOBER 26 IN WASHINGTON, D.C. (C-SPAN?)

A one line mention in Monday's Washington Post has led to an inquiry from C-SPAN about their covering this Saturday's Patriots Rally for America at the Washington Monument, at the corner of 17th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
They plan on covering the so-called anti-war rally being held the same day in D.C. and wish to cover our rally as balance.
Also, C-SPAN will be having a roundtable discussion on the Iraq situation and asked us to suggest some college student leaders to participate in a Washington Journal segment for Saturday.
I'll be calling C-SPAN Thursday with our schedule for the rally and I suppose they'll decide then whether they'll cover it. They definitely seem interested, though.
Our speaker line-up is taking shape, we should be ready to announce at least a partial one tomorrow night. Just like last April's Patriots Rally, it's coming together the week of the event.
As for financing, we're about halfway to meeting the budget of $4,000 for the stage, sound, porta-pottys and incidentals. Members of the D.C. Chapter are financing the Patriots Rally, but we could use some help.
If you would like to help, please click this link.
If you would like to publicize the Patriots Rally, you can download this flyer created by rabidralph which features Registered's rally logo and distribute copies in your area.
The D.C. Chapter was planning for the Patriots Rally to be a local pro-America, support our troops and anti-Saddam Hussein gathering to counter the national so-called anti-war rally being held by the usual collection of America-hating communists, leftists and anarchists.
We've made contacts with local College Republican groups at some of the local campuses and they are helping to get the word out.
We're not going to come anywhere near the numbers of the leftists, but we'll have a decent crowd. We'd love to have you come out and stand up for America with us.
Please bring American and Gadsden flags, signs supporting America and our troops and as many friends and family members as you can.
The weather forecast is for mostly sunny skies with temperatures in the 50s to low 60s.
As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for demonstrating will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no racism, no profanity, no threats, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
When: Saturday, October 26, 2002 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., rain or shine.
Where: The Washington Monument at the corner of 17th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW.

I have postered and postered away in the Dupont Circle area. We shall see what good it does. I took the eagle graphic and got some color copies today. I'm online now doing more emailing to college republicans. (I would like to add that I am currently behaving.) Do you want me to look up who commented on our last thread and ping them to this one?

Hi, kristinn, Does this smell like the usual C-SPAN "balance" that they will broadcast the anti-American rally in full, twice, and use just excerpts from ours at some weird hour of the day (not live)? I know you cannot get an honest commitment from them, but do you have any clue whether they might actually take a crack at real "balance" this time?
C-SPAN does have two (count 'em, 2) channels that are not being used right now, Congress being out of session and whatall. They could broadcast both rallies, live.
Also, if you need a debater in any context who can make the anti-Americans wish they were never born, I volunteer for the task. It's a filthy job, but somebody's got to do it.

"

They contacted me yesterday. I spoke with an assistant producer today. The ANSWER rally is the main event, so they should get live coverage. I'd be happy with a tape-delayed broadcast of our lil' ol' rally.
I need to call them with a rally program on Thursday so they can plan accordingly. We should have three solid hours, if not four, of speeches, songs and cheers they can broadcast. Our stage managers will just have some extra pressure on them to keep things snappy and on schedule.

Ping! Check out this new thread on the Patriots Rally - speaker list is being finalized and CSpan may cover it. Feel free to turn your ping lists loose on this thread. Let's get a huge turnout for Saturday's rally in DC!

You know, one of the *fascinating* things about news coverage of the anti-war protestors is this:
When I actually see these guys, they are totally anti-American. They're saying America is a bad and evil country in so many words, they're espousing socialism, etc.
But on the news media, they get these rare cleaned-up people who complain that conservatives dare to call them anti-American just because they have a few policy concerns. Those talking heads do *not* reflect the mass of people who show up, who say they are and hold signs indicating that they are not just people who disagree with Bush but overwhelmingly *are* anti-American.
So sure C-SPAN will give the leftists more time. But the neat thing is that on the C-SPAN rally coverage of them, unlike the Washington Post and everywhere else, you actually get to hear how anti-American they really are. None of this moderate spin.
That's why I'm not afraid of C-SPAN coverage of them. It's the only truth that comes out about them in the mainstream media, so far as I can see.

Count me in! My Gadsden flag and Kentucky State flag just arrived via UPS today. I love it when a plan comes together.
Now, I just need to find my Target shirt:^)
