Teddy Kennedy is arguing against military intervention in Iraq. These words transcribed as he speaks... "As I said earlier, we still don't know the fate, location, or operational capacity of Osama Bin Ladin but we do know that Al Queda is still there and here. But, we don't know when where or how this will happen. CIA director has testified that Al Queda remains a serious threat to our country... even if the Taliban out of power.. Afghanistan is still fragile... our reconstruction effort is halting and inadequate...
Some operatives have faded into the woodwork...Karzai is still struggling... Pakistan is far from certain...
United Nations is far from convinced

he's literally just stated on CSPAN that "it must be tried"... he is literally saying that appeasement is a must! This guy makes Chamberlin look like a saviour!
To: sam_paine
...like the last 15 minutes of "saving private ryan!!"... I think he means the *first* 15 minutes of "Saving Private Ryan". I didn't even see the movie and I knew that. He didn't even pronounce "Sharon" right; I think he said Shah-rahn instead of Shah-rohn.

The talking heads on MSNBC are LAUGHING at the two "retired" generals Kennedy quoted; he said they don't know anymore than they do!

AAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHTeddy: "If Tony Blair is correct, and Saddam can launch WMD in less than 45 minutes, then that's even more reason not to put OUR troops into harm's way, unless all possible diplomatic means have been exhausted."
IOW, if he's got WMD, then it's already too dangerous to attack him, and if he doesn't have WMD then there's no reason to attack him!!!
I'm, uh, speechless!!!

Are those two generals he's talking about active?Um. I think he said Wesley Clark, didn't he?
To: MJY1288
Teddy is saying he's not prepared to make a decision on force until the UN is done.

Yes. And they are BOTH retired, so he's not talking to REAL generals who know.

Kennedy being challenged by member of audience now. The questioner points out that if the UN did not side with the US in the Cuban Missile Crisis, would the Kennedy Admin have proceeded with blockade anyway?
Teddy says "I'm waiting for the final recommendation of the Security Council prior to my vote"
"it's (the attitude we're going with or without you) insulting to the United Nations..."

I see Fat TeddyK is weighing in on the Iraq issue. His remarks are explicitly aimed at the November elections. Fat Teddy knows, as does Daschle, Gephardt and Gore, that President Bush has been convincing the vast majority of American's, Saddam Hussein must go. This is a political issue and the Democrats are on the wrong side of this issue. We have screwed with Iraq for the last 12 years and the Saddam Hussein regime has told the world to f**k off. FatTeddy is attempting to energize the leftwing crowd of appeasers and pacifists, in the hopes of reversing public opinion. It won't work. Its obvious to even the casual observer, who pays attention only half the time, that Iraq is aligned with terrorist entities. Anyone who can't see this, is blind.

If he has'em, and we know it - WE DON'T NEED NO STEENKING EENSPECTIONS, TED!!! If Tony's right, then Saddam is lying, RIGHT? Then the whole premise of Inspecting to Verify that Iraq No Longer Has... is moot and a bunch of crap. And do you think those nerdy swiss nuclear accountants will be any use in forcing Disarmament? Get a life! Get a brain!
Sad thing is 43% of the voters have neither.

We'll know in November after the elections.....

He must have missed the little historical footnote about Iraq almost getting nuclear weapons but the facility being destroyed when Israel sent the Mirages over Baghdad.

According to the Dem's current train of thought, we should have not fought the Germans until after we finished fighting the Japanese. Think about it, apparently they haven't.
The UN isn't going to make a move until we do. It's been proven over and over in the past. For all the bitching they're doing about going after Iran or Saudi Arabia first, where the hell do they think we'd attack them from? We have less than the required amount of troop strength in Afghanistan to do both jobs. What idiots. Iraq will serve a dual purpose. The immediate goal of taking out Saddam and as a base of operations should we need to go futher in feretting out the rest of the terrorists. He must think that if it's necessary to go after Saudi Arabia they'll let us use out bases in country to do the job.
It's like watching a '60's flashback whenever these fools find a camera and a microphone. Daschle is blocking a resolution already. Damn it Zell grow a set why don't you? Dump these bastards for the sake of the country. Your Case can easily be made and the voters of Georgia will understand your reasoning.

I was also confused by his statement. I still say the "Gulf War Syndrome", was caused by Saddam's chemical arsonal.
To: Howlin
I'm sure glad the democrats are not injecting politics in this debate. He made it sound as if GWB has'nt gone to the U.N. and as if Tony Blair wasn't on-board. Kennedy is a liar and Admiral Hunt is now calling Kennedy a liar on FOX
