A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

Does everyone have to download them onto their computer in order to play them - or is it just me? I think it depends of the wav site. Do you have to save the songs that I play on your hard drive?
To: Pippin; ST.LOUIE1
AHAH! THat's his name too,eh? (Gif Guru) LOL! Yep. Our charming, generous, saintly, louiewolf/bear gif guru has many names. What would we do without him around here? :-)
To: Aquamarine
Do you have to save the songs that I play on your hard drive? Yes, I always have to save them, no matter where they are, including the ones you post. It is a bit of an ordeal to go through in order to listen to them.
To: Mama_Bear; ST.LOUIE1
If we didn't have Louie we'd have to invent him. LOL!

To: humblegunner
I hope to be either looking into getting a new computer or getting one in December of this year and I'll make sure I can play videos on it. (Don't know if It'll improve my spelling or grammer much, though,LOL!)

Have you downloaded Windows Media Player?
To: lodwick
Nice work with da'hole - thanks. Thanks, Lod! I did the head image work and agitator helped me with the
skin tone smoothing on the handcuff pic......
To: Aquamarine
For me, your nice wave files go directly to Real Player and start playing nearly immediately...nothing much is saved to this hard disc. They're either opened or played.
midi's suk - wav's rule.

Have you downloaded Windows Media Player? I have it on my computer somewhere, but it probably isn't set up to play wav files. I don't remember right now which application plays wavs on my computer. But, I will check it out.
To: Mama_Bear; yall
I may need to re-read this but goodness - if you have Real Player installed, any wav file should open immediately into the temp memory file, and then play.
Let's keep talking about this until you Save to Disk (unless you wish to do this) guys get things corrected.

I need to leave the thread now. I hope I replied to everyone who posted to me. If not, my apologies. I have been feeling under the weather all day today and have had to force myself to sit here and post, but now it is time to go lie down, I think.
Have a great weekend, everyone! Thanks for being here with us. If I didn't get a chance to say hello to you, please forgive. I love all of our Finest FReepers. :-)
To: Mama_Bear
There are several sites on the internet that you can go to and download the latest versions of Windows Media Player and or Real Player. Do a search for free downloads.
To: lodwick; Aquamarine
I have real player installed, and windows media player. I don't know what the problem is. I am going to look into it later. Feelin' kind of under the weather right now. I'll be back. I may be coming to you for help getting my problem straigtened out. Thanks, lodwick and aqua. I knew there was some kind of problem, it didn't seem right that I needed to save them.
To: Mama_Bear
I think you have to go into one of your programs and click it ON.
I'm going too, I hope you feel better tomorrow. Good night.

I really need a ping list (how do you do that?). I'm sorry that I've had to be absent so much, and it's not going to get much better for three weeks or so. We have important guests coming the first week in Oct and I have to get this house painted inside and cleaned up.
Billie, thank you for using my photo on this thread. It really is nice to see those buildings in all their splendor. In my memory they will always be there.
whoever, I'm so glad you are improving. Thank you Lord for healing our who. The pictures on the thread are really beautiful. Louie, I miss picking at you. Stay out of trouble while I'm away.

Pip, I wish you could have been with me today. My church had a cook-out for me at a member's farm. We went on a hay ride for miles and miles of back roads through the hills and valleys. We saw deer and turkeys and beautiful woods and pastures. It was great and it rained on us, which made it even more fun. We were soaked and trying to cover up with blankets, etc. We were singing in the rain. It was so much fun.
