I agree the timing is suspicious, and while I'll rejoice at the news, I am hesitant to believe this.
First of all, CBS brings up Osama (playing into the alqaeda's game of putting this on their website) ... It can't be confirmed, so CBS brings it up on 9/11 with no real proof, and they tarnish the day with a subtle sting @ Bush.
That's my gut feeling on this, and I wouldn't mind being wrong!

Me, too.
Although, if we DID get him, I want to know who flew the plane on that raid. The pilot who dropped that bomb is this war's Tom Lanphier, and should be recognized as the hero he is.

BTW, I believe Osama is dead and has been for quite some time. But I just question the timing of this so-called announcment.I agree, if they really came from Al-Queda they wouldn't give this gem away on 9-11 without something up their bedsheet.

Some Afghani could make a mint charging Americans to pour urine on his gravesite. I would pay to have it done.

Is CBS the only ones reporting this? Is Dan having another "moment"?

Now if only the DOW would go up 911 points today...
That would be absolutely poetic. I hope that does happen.

CBS just announced that on an Al-Qaeda website in the Sudan, Bin Laden died at TOra Bora! Osama died on a web site?
Journalistic incompetence in the use of the English language just keeps metastasizing.

"Gee ... which has less credibility? CBS or Al-Qaeda?"Now that is an excellent question, gumlegs.
Simply hits the nail squarely on the head concerning the nation's Liberal-Socialist Lamestream media & specifically SeeBS.
Personally I tend to lean towards SeeBS having less credibility than any other single carbon-based entity on the planet, myself.
Actually, in the "Credibility Department" SeeBS has none, nada, nyet.
I seriously doubt -- no matter how hard I may try -- ever get the stench of SeeBS' lying, Liberal-Socialist bias outa my nostrels.
...SeeBS stinks, that bad.

I've actually heard of a "jihad.net" or a "jihad.com" before that is a reputed AQ site. And did Pokey 78 not say that this site originated in the Sudan?
Any illumination on this score?
BTW, I think he's as dead as a doornail.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

what is there to feel bad about? if it's a code to release the hounds of islam upon the US, better now than later... i think it's a plea not to attack, perhaps thinking that if ubl is dead, then the US will bow to political and media pressure not to attack
God bless the USA and W

I think the timing has something to do with 9/11 - gives it more impact - but the REASON is that Iraq is getting frantic trying to avert an invasion. They want us to think we have won already. Dan Rather will no doubt be leading with that angle.

BTW, it was Jim Stewart at the Pentagon that announced this, with Dan commenting.
Still looking for link . . .

OsamabinLadensPersonalHomepage.com"? Actually I think it's
http://hometown.aol.com/osamabinladen/
Watch out for the pop-up ads for Phoenix Online-- they are an Al Qaeda training academy apparently.

Look for the liberal media to declare the War on Terrorism over.

Can't get into jihad.net....won't load. If there is any secret signal being sent (above and beyond admitting that Osama bin Dead), slashdotting their site is a useful public service....
