Well, I know my county coroner's name. He is my neighbor. He is a decent fellow as honest as any man you could find. In my state he works for the county and reports to county commissioners.

What are your concerns in this case?

Fred....

Somewhere in all the news reports, it seems like I saw something about the local judge saying, he thought the perp was in some militia...If that is so, it is rather odd for the judge to be saying that without some knowledge or intent.

coverup who knows... But the article sites a self professed member of the Kitchen Militia as supporting this crap.
Below is info about the Kitchen Militia. If they support the actions taken by this dude then they are dangerous.

The Kitchen Militia
Nancy Koernke

Kitchen Militia Mobilizes
The Kitchen Militia is a group of little old ladies, mothers,
grandmothers--womenarmed with information, FAX machines,
telephones and stationary. "We educate ourselves, get copies
of laws, stay abreast and try to notify people about what's
going on," says Kathy McDaniel, Membership Director of the
Louisiana Kitchen Militia. "I have five children from 26 to
eight-years-old, so I think I have a real vested interest in
what's going on in this country," she said. The Kitchen Militia
began in Louisiana about three months ago and has already
spread to ten states. "You know how some women get depressed?"
Well, this gives the ladies something to do," Mrs. McDaniel said.
"We're not going to storm anybody in fatigues with guns; I've never
shot anything but a BB gun, but I'll tell you one thing, they're
going to get some lip service." [SOURCE: The Kitchen Militia can

Militia, ############, Louisiana

I have been following the media-hyped concerns over the various growing
militia movements across the nation. I must say that the media is once a=
gain in the Johnny-Come-Lately mode in accurately covering this movement.

The real story is not about the men's patriot movement where a few GI
Joe-style gun totin' guys get together once in awhile. The real story
is the KITCHEN Militia that has been called to arms around this nation
since George Bush first acted upon his announcement to become
"The Education President."

We are thousands of mothers and grandmothers-cum-researchers located in
every state of this country. We have micro-researched every facet of
the so-called "restructuring" and in the process have become experts
on the United Nations, the US-Soviet Education, Technology and Cultural
Exchange Agreements, Federal & State legislation (past and present),
philosophy, sociology, psychology, and pedagogy. In short, if there
is any program or agenda we perceive as a threat to our families,
somewhere there is a Kitchen Militia mother who tracks it down and
gets the word out on the grapevine; radio call-in-show, fax-network,
audio casette, video tape or any other jungle drum available.

We are not armed with guns! Guns are so messy. . . we've got Congressional
records, legislation, and official documents. We document whatever we
say and hoard quotes from air-head politicians like a miser hoards his gold.

The media dismisses us as the Christian Right; although christians, Jews,
Bhuddists, and atheists are all involved in this relentless research and
dissemination. Our numbers includes people in government agencies and
local school districts.

We are the most dangerous threat to "restructuring" of this nation.
Remember the slogan, "The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world."
This is fair warning. The fastest growing militant group in this country
is the "KITCHEN militia." Our numbers swell every day, every time some new
piece of socialist garbage is introduced that threatens our families.

Let's see....how many such incidents such as this have we seen, compared to the daily rantings and bombings of jihadists, threatening us daily with 'holy war'. To compare the vast majority of us with these folks is just plain dishonest.
I see that you have tried to change who I was comparing. It's called a "straw man," and it "is just plain dishonest." If by us you mean exactly who I described in my post--"white men who claim a police officer has no Constitutional authority to issue traffic tickets"--I consider you every bit as much of a potential murderer as "young Middle Eastern Muslim men."

I'm sure you are one of those who favored targetting pro-life groups while Osama and his pals plotted mayhem.
Yet another attempted rhetorical sleight of hand. I didn't mention anything about pro-life groups or Osama.

You aren't fooling anybody. I know where you are coming from, Mr Jim.
Au contraire. When I'm pilled you don't notice him. He only comes out when I drink my gin.

So is continually lying about undisputable facts.

I'm going to call it the "Oswald defense". A desperate attempt to ignore facts because they originate from a government agency, I.E. if the facts came from the government, they're suspect.

Speeding is a violation of traffic law. Law enforcement officers enforce the law. It's their job, and it's dangerous. Running from the police during a routine traffic stop is a "real crime".

Yes, and in Little Rock, Arkansas, some police officers brought a lawsuit against the city a couple of years ago because of that. They claimed the city was so dependent on revenue generated by traffic tickets, that officers who failed to meet their quota were given negative performance reviews and passed over for promotions. I believe the city made an out of court settlement.

If the money paid in traffic fines didn't go to the city, there would be a whole lot less motivation for setting up speed traps, and police officers would have more time available to combat violent crime.

This was the judge he dealt with in 1998, when he filed documents with the court that any law enforcement officer that attempted to detain him did so at their own peril, citing a largish dose of pseudolegal rhetoric.

I can see how a judge might come to the conclusion that the guy was in the militia.

"A desperate attempt to ignore facts because they originate from a government agency, I.E. if the facts came from the government, they're suspect."

And on the other hand, the government has given us a lot if evidence to support the theory that they are, in general, a bunch of liars. Or do we need to re-hash Global Warming, "It's for the Children", "Reasonable Gun Control", "Read my lips, no new taxes", and "It depends on what the definition of the word 'is' is...". Those are just some small examples from those at the top of the heap. Imagine what their underlings can get away with.

exodus has some theories that are walking on EXTREMELY thin ice and possibly verging on the absurd. However, no one has ALL the facts yet and there is quite a bit of rhetoric flying around.

So far, it's looking REALLY bad for Mathews.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't think that judge will preside over the Grand Jury after saying what he said.

Defending cop killers is nuts.

I believe defending murderers in general is nuts (unless one is a defense lawyer, in which case it may be one's job). I am just completely surprised at the way this simple principle becomes "complicated" in some minds when the victim is a cop and the murderer is a man who claimed--claimed, mind you-- to honor the Constitution above all else.

This story has been a real eye-opener for me.

Pulling a gun during a traffic stop is indefensible. This is not defending the Constitution, it is sheer criminal stupidity.

If it were some animal-rights nazi, vegan, eco-terrorist, WTO-protesting nutbag who killed a cop, nobody (nobody at FR, at least) would be justifying his actions or broadly hinting that this particular law enforcement agency 'provoked' him somehow and then staged a coverup.

Well, I don't much care for the slanderous use of the word "Constitutionalist" in all of the titles. It's very DU-ish.

Or someone like Mumia. Or your garden-variety bank robber, or drug dealer, or anyone else who wouldn't ever be given the "[I]Live Free or [You]Die" award for killing a cop.
