Defending cop killers is nuts.I believe defending murderers in general is nuts (unless one is a defense lawyer, in which case it may be one's job). I am just completely surprised at the way this simple principle becomes "complicated" in some minds when the victim is a cop and the murderer is a man who claimed--claimed, mind you-- to honor the Constitution above all else.
This story has been a real eye-opener for me.

Pulling a gun during a traffic stop is indefensible. This is not defending the Constitution, it is sheer criminal stupidity.

If it were some animal-rights nazi, vegan, eco-terrorist, WTO-protesting nutbag who killed a cop, nobody (nobody at FR, at least) would be justifying his actions or broadly hinting that this particular law enforcement agency 'provoked' him somehow and then staged a coverup.

Yes. Be aware these are the same loons who claimed the WTC attack was caused not by terrorists who flew planes into buildings, but by the Federal government's policies. They are ideologues, not patriots. They have more in common with Marx and Lenin and Kropotkin than with Washington and Jefferson and Thoreau.
