Watch and pray. The rescuers are optimistic that they will reach the cavity where the miners are located by midnight, perhaps as soon as 10pm et.
They just reported that several PA miners were caught in a similar situation thirty years ago AND WERE RESCUED ALIVE AFTER A WEEK IN THE HOLE.

And may I add that once again the average American workers are the heroes in this drama, just like 9/11. There is great heroism in this country, and I believe it is beginning to be seen.Great comment!
Btw, I'm wondering if it isn't much better that these men were brought up during the night ..... less shock to their systems than coming up in bright sunlight after their days in darkness. Another special blessing from God? Or would that really not make any difference.

it's amazing what lengths good people are willing to go to to save lives. Did you notice the tenderness and gentle care with which those big guys were handling the rescue capsule containing the first man up? Those kind of scenes always create a lump in my throat.

...discussed at another time(implying that it was inappropriate). And then the interview came to an end.I still fail to see where you come to your conclusion on the implication other than your extreme dislike for Geraldo. I watched it. The only thing I saw was the guy bieng inteviewed had things to take care of, and the things he was being asked about would come out later.

That's an incredible picture. Wow.

This successful rescue operation is definitely a real morale booster -- you're so right about that
The sixth miner to be rescued from the Quecreek Mine in Somerset, Pennsylvania, is carried to a medical evaluation tent early July 28, 2002. Rescue workers on Sunday began pulling nine miners one-by-one from the watery, 240-foot-deep shaft where they had been trapped for three days, a jubilant reward for an effort fraught with one gut-wrenching setback after another. Had to work tonight and missed the entire rescue. Thanks for all of you whom kept up real time information-I had chills with each post, and am celebrating along with all y'all now...
What a happy news event!

Amen. Here's a toast to all of those who still put the most competent in charge to get the task at hand done. Kudos to all who saved these men. Having lost relatives in West Virgina coal mine colapses, I felt for the families. I'm happy for all of them.
Here hoping the diversity crowd doesn't scream that they didn't get their due in this.

Can't wait for this to be made into a movie. Of course one of the miners will have to be black, and another will have to be a woman, and they'll also have to have a gay miner in the bunch, too....

YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!... GOD BLESS AMERICA AND GOD BLESS THESE MEN
The United States of America:
the only country capable of saving men from peril in outer space (Apollo 13)
AND from Vulcan's workshop.
This is one of the ways I like to think of us whenever I hear some mainstream media shill
intone these words like some curse: "the last remaining superpower".
