Watch and pray. The rescuers are optimistic that they will reach the cavity where the miners are located by midnight, perhaps as soon as 10pm et.
They just reported that several PA miners were caught in a similar situation thirty years ago AND WERE RESCUED ALIVE AFTER A WEEK IN THE HOLE.

He must be in the cage... So getting him up should not be a problem

Forgive me father for I have...hic....

I take that back... the cage is still going down
To: Timesink
Yeah, perhaps some remember that NBC, ABC, and CBS routinely portray them on the nightly news as ignorant toothless inbred hicks. An east coast media/literati 'White Man's Burden'.

Can you just imagine being the LAST man remaining down in the mine? Waiting for that cage ride to freedom?
To: All
Guy must have fit in the cage...because it looks like it is coming up.

To Reply 781. I guess we just don't see eye to eye. I think Geraldo has been a drawing card, and the proof of it is that the bigshots have been coming to him for their interviews, not to CNN's guy. I find it interesting that some Freepers would prefer CNN to watch, a totally traitorous cable station, instead of stooping to watch Geraldo on Fox, a station that is so preferable to CNN.

You think they might have done a "fit-check" with him inside the cage earlier so they already know that he'll fit?

He was talking to the a PA state mining regulatory official...the guy in the white shirt when they announce names...and Geraldo started asking about who's paying for all this, etc. and what kind of regulations about insurance there were, etc. and the guy said they were going to get into those issues later and he had stuff to do - that's why the interview ended - not because of the line of questioning.

I wonder if the drill bit opened a vein of water on the way down???
To: kwyjibo
They must have... If it was me I would strip down to my underwear to fit if I had to.

Oh there are times I could wring his neck. Mostly doing lip service for Clinton. Sometimes though he says things that other reporters don't say. He's been good tonight. Boy, does this country need something good to cheer about.

Great to be able to watch some
good news for a change. I'll admit I held out little hope for them. A headline in Saturday morning's
Charlotte Observer reads:
Broken bit halts drilling for hours; survival hopes fading as 2nd day passes. What a difference a day makes!
No doubt this is not their biggest problem, but imagine how sensitive to light these guys' eyes must be as they emerge to the glare of the TV lights after 3 days in one of the darkest places imaginable.

#9 is coming up, so he must be in the cage!
To: Timesink
I don't remember the details, but he was asking the guy in the glasses and white shirt who, along with the pink-shirted lady, announce each name as they come out. He asked something to do with insurance, and are there laws regarding such, and the guy basically told him that was to be discussed at another time(implying that it was inappropriate). And then the interview came to an end.

Guy must have fit in the cage...because it looks like it is coming up. I'd be hanging on the bottom of it if I had to.
