WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The Bush administration is withdrawing three military observers from East Timor because they were not granted immunity from the new International Criminal Court, the State Department said Monday.
The announcement followed a U.S. veto of a renewal of the U.N. peacekeeping mission in Bosnia Sunday after other members of the Security Council rejected its demand to make peacekeepers immune from prosecution by the International Criminal Court.

Three is a good start.
How about the rest?

Fleischer quoted criticism of the treaty made by former President Clinton that echoes the Bush administration's problems with the court, and said the United States wants protections for its
citizens similar to those being sought by other countries.
"This is a very important matter of principle about protecting Americans who uniquely serve around the globe in peacekeeping efforts," Fleischer said. "The world should make no mistake the United States will stand strong and stand on principle to do what's right to protect our citizens."

Three is a good start. How about the rest? It's really so very basic. America is a sovereign nation. Not subject to any law other than its own. When we give that up, we've given up.

Interesting, Indonesia wasn't called on the carpet for either the mass murder of Christian Timorese or destruction of 1/3 of the country's infrastructure. Nor has the UN apologised for turning a deaf ear to the pleas of locals residents for protection during the elections pushed BY the UN itself. However, PEACEKEEPERS have the UN in a positive meltdown. Micheal Savage is right - extreme liberalism is a disease.

Wow! This is one of the all too few times in recent months that I'm actually 100% behind a Bush policy.

Although the number of U.S. personnel is small, a decision to pull U.S. assistance could also result in a significant loss of logistical support for those missions.Ha Ha Ha! The BIG bear in the corner! The US has handled the mobilization and supply of all the missions. Most of the UN countries can offer troops, but it's the US who supplies it and pulls it all together. Not to mention the fact that the US provides 27% of the financing.

Like all regulations of this type, the only ones it will effect and/or who will abide by it are the law abiding. The Hitlers, Stalins, Saddams of this world could not care less.

Not to mention the extremist Islam murdering, torturing and selling Christians into slavery (including children) in the Sudan. In fact, the UN rewarded the Sudan with a chair on the Human Rights Commission. Get us out of the UN NOW!

Perhaps another nail in the coffin for that institution that has long outlived any useful purpose? One can live in hope.

A fatal one at that!

"This is the first action by this administration that is 100% supportable by true Constitutional Conservatives."
I disagree. Bush pulled the U.S. out of the U.S. - CCCP ABM Treaty. Bush killed U.S. involvement in the Kyoto Accords, too.
Oh, Bush also pulled the U.S. out of the International Criminal Court.
Perhaps you either don't understand what is Constitutional, or perhaps you haven't been paying attention...
