This is a follow-up article regarding the dozens of Santas (many FReepers, including our own Doctor Raoul) who showed up in Kensington last December after the mayor received a couple of complaints from residents and decided to outlaw Santa.

Mrs. Gill has not directly mentioned the flap, but she delivers a message of inclusion. "Words mean exactly what I want them to mean." -- The Red Queen, Alice in Wonderland.

Maybe the Kensington voters will send a loud and clear message that it is time for PC to die a rapid death. If Mrs. Gill wins by a sizeable margin, maybe other elected officials throughout the country will get the message.

No Santa, No Peace!
No Santa, No Peace!
That was a fun Freep.

In truth it sounds like everyone involved deserves each other . . . . "inclusion" . . . . "unity circle" . . . . "welcoming place". These people remind me of Mark Twain's critique of a James Fenimore Cooper novel--"In a good book the reader comes to love the good characters and hate the bad ones. But in a Cooper book the reader finds himself hoping that ALL the characters will fall into a river and drown together."

It was a fun freep - I wasn't able to attend, but the pictures and reports showed that everyone had a good time. I loved the picture of Doctor "Santa" Raoul with the hatchet in the back -- hope someone can post it on the thread.

"If we stop dwelling on it and just let it go," Mrs. Raufaste said. "Let's move forward, folks, and put it behind us." Hmmmmm. Sounds vaguely familiar. Wasn't there another politician in the DC area a few years ago whose supporters repeatedly urged moving forward re various not so pleasant things he did? I guess some politicians regard "moving forward" (whatever that is) to be a powerful memory cleansing technique.

Could someone PLEASE call in a B-52 strike on this place? IMHO they lower the IQ on the nation by at least 5 points.

Andrea Gill's true intentions sound rather suspicious. Hmmmm....
To: TomGuy
"Support for Mrs. Gill at the forum and comment afterward suggest a groundswell that could oust Mrs. Raufaste, who opted to ban St. Nick from the "Holiday Event" rather than let a menorah join a Christmas tree on the town hall lawn." Truth be told, IT WAS THE TOWN COUNCIL that decided to ban Santa Claus. The Town Kouncil was concerned that if they allowed a menorah as requested by some Jewish residents, then they would then have to allow a nativity scene as well. So, the Kensington Town Kouncil decided to ban Santa as their secret compromise to those Jewish residents who did not get their way.

Hmmmm ..... it sounds like a South Park episode!

This brings back fond memories of my e-mails to the morons on the town council. If my memory serves me, I think we overloaded their mailboxes with our funny and sarcasic comments.

"The mayor handled that one badly," said Kerry Thompson, organizer of a "unity circle" to help heal hurt feelings after "hateful" comments showed up on signs and in phone messages after Santa was banned. LOL!
Personally, I'll jump for joy when I start getting hatefull comments on a regular basis, since to me, that means I'm doing SOMETHING right!

Mayor Raufaste was re-elected last night.
