Saving Alaska

The United States wealth has been stolen from the workers of the rest of the world and it is time to start sharing with our brothers and sisters who are forced to continue to live in poverty because of our actions. The people of the Middle East do not have a standard of living that even the poorest of our workers are forced to endure. They have been forced to live in these conditions for thousands of years and it is high time the United States made amends for our past transgressions.

The first steps were taken by our esteemed Senator Daschle this past week when he almost single-handedly stopped the President's energy program. Senator Daschle and the Democrats are rapidly gathering strength of numbers for their comprehensive energy plan. With this one action he has forced the United States to continue sending our assets abroad, and saved the entire state of Alaska from destruction. Now the few wealthy and selfish individuals wanting to drive their gas guzzling motor vehicles to the clubs and bars will just have to pay more to indulge in their pleasures.

Senator Daschle and the entire Democratic Party are to be praised for their great sacrifices. They realize that by saving the vast areas of Alaska from greedy oil producing individuals we are helping the downtrodden masses in other parts of the world. When our society realized the pleasures that can be gained by not utilizing all the "modern" pieces of equipment they will be eager to support them at the polls in November.

Machines like gigantic automobiles all consume enormous amount of petroleum products. In an effort to make a more equal society we need to restrict the type and number of automobiles each family is allowed to use. We need to start utilizing our mass transportation system that our local governments have so efficiently constructed. It does not matter if it takes worker four or five hours to get to work and back, because these hours can be very productive in his personal education and extremely satisfying when he thinks that he providing for the better good of his neighbors. Most families do not even need an automobile. Again mass transit is available and extremely affordable. If the United States is ever going to achieve worldwide equality we must reduce our demands to the level of the rest of the world.

People, this column highlights what we're up against, on a day to day basis. This guy actually lives in the same United States as do the rest of us. Even more frightening, although not surprising, is his occupation. He teaches at a Florida University

I can't decide whether it's a satire or somebody actually believes this. The bit about "efficient mass transit" is a joke. Municipal governments from coast to coast have bungled opportunities in mass transit and created a distaste for using it. The time between buses (or trains) is too great, the routes are wrong, transfers are not coordinated, etc., etc. About the only transit system worth using daily is (don't laugh) Cleveland. It was the first city to have light rail out to the airport and the city and suburban lines (Shaker Heights Rapid Transit) are nicely coordinated.

This is a joke, right? If not, I would be willing to bet this "professor" never held a job outside academia in his entire life. This individual clearly has NO grasp of reality and makes insane assertions which is why I ask if it's a joke. What is really bothersome, if this is for real, is that he's in a position to screw up the minds of how many students who have never had to face the real world (yet) and, therefore, are prone to believe this BS!?!?

If you check out some of his other "columns" on that web site I think it becomes pretty obvious that this is satire. He also "thanks" teachers unions for lowering standards to make future workers (today's kids) dumber and easier to order around, argues for lowering of standards in education and praises Ted Kennedy for understanding this, and wants to increase the number of smokers to generate more tax revenue and get people to die quicker so they consume less government services

He writes like Jesse Ventura used to call wrestling matches. Actually the name of the link should be the giveaway (End Justifies the Means).
