Affirmative action nite at the Academy Awards.

That's what it looks like.
I really thought that blacks have come too far to need this condescending and patronizing sort of BS.
I guess I was wrong.
I really find it rather belittling and insulting.

Well Ebert will just gush about Berry. What the hell was that crap that Whoopi just said to NYC??? Baby, we got your back??? Yeah right. I'm sure Hollywood has 20 f-16s on standby to go help the New Yorkers.

Why accept for a whole race when you've won an award for your own individual achievement?

I think she meant it because of all the black women before her ..

That fact is there is not a history of black men/women winning the Oscar's .. she was proud to be the first black women to win an Oscar for Leading Actress .. that's all

All of these people are wonderful at what they do ... but I just wish they would start thinking of themselves as "Americans" ... not "African Americans".

Of course, Alex Haley probably wouldn't have had a bestseller if he'd traced his Roots back to ... Wales.

I might as well make you madder by saying that as a Black woman I am very proud of Halle and always have been. I have two Black parents and she has one, but I consider her no less Black than I am.

And I consider her no less white than I am - so why are YOU offended by my remarks? Why are YOU proud of her?

Get real- Halle looks Black and identifies that way.

I was offended by your remarks because you seemed to be implying that the product of two Black parents couldn't be beautiful in your eyes.

I'm proud of Halle because she is a good actress to start with and YES, I am proud of her as a Black actress because she has fought against not being considered "black enough" by some casters in Hollywood and taken on some roles that some felt should have gone to more "Black" looking actresses.

Sorry, but I think what Whoopi did was tacky. And no mention of the Pentagon attack.

So that's it, 'A Beautiful Lie' wins?

Seems like a pretty lame show this year, glad I didn't watch the whole thing.

I am thrilled that Ron Howard won. I thought he was pretty quiet about his politics. Married 27 years to his high school sweetheart. I don't care how he votes, a good man is a good man.

And a redhead, let's not forget that.

Redheads can finally have something to be proud of tonight. Opie broke that glass ceiling of redheaded directors.

I'm so glad. Maybe now, even I, can get a decent part. Dang. That's director, isn't it? Has a redhead won in acting? Must I still wait for that ceiling to break?
