I am so glad Ron Howard and 'A Beautiful Mind' won. He has made the best pictures in Hollywood the last few years.

Has Russell Crowe punched out anyone yet?

Seriously, I imagine if he hadn't pulled that crap on at the Brit "oscars" he would have won best actor here. The backlash was severe. No amount of damage control was able to overcome that.

No. Just that today, the biggest racists are in the black community. To be honest, once someone mentions the word "race", my brain tends to look for something else to do. *g*

Howard? He directed a TV movie of the week. Jackson directed a ten-ring circus and coordinated thousands to produce a masterpiece. Oh well, at least it's not the commie Altman.

The ABM people did a wonderful job of spinning the Drudge stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if they were the one's that planted the anti-Semitic storyline so that they could get a groundswell of support.

You're right. But damnit, I've grown up watching this show, before it was so overtly politicized, and this kind of crap really ticks me off. I agree with you that other award shows may be more reflective (but then how does that explain the Mouline Rouge awards?), but they're not the freaking Oscars.

Just a young man's rantings. Hope Harvey Weinstein gets run over by a freaking truck and tastes his own blood.

Well, I am completely disgusted....although not surprised. I'm outta here. This has been the sorriest excuse for Academy Awards I have ever seen!

Actually, her mother is white and the odds are her father is at least partly European in ancestry. If you trace it back, I bet at least 3/4 of her genes originated in Europe.

Kinda like Tiger Woods being (at best) 1/16th black. All of these people are wonderful at what they do ... but I just wish they would start thinking of themselves as "Americans" ... not "African Americans".

Looks like a disappointing night for MR. Too bad. I'm kinda glad though. Didn't care for that movie.

A few months back articles interviewing people in the business here in LA ridiculed Berry's intense focus on getting the Oscar for any film, particularly after her car accident. Those same folks who ridiculed her then apparently voted for her when push came to shove.

I don't know anything about Ron Howard's politics, but I was his biography on A&E last year. Great guy, absolutely devoted to his wife of 27 years, and he adores his children. Good family man. I'm glad he won this evening. :)

Thanks. Actually, it probably took about 45 minutes. I keep going back to the Oscar thread and sneaking a few peeks at the television.
