Gov. Gray Davis during a television interview Friday acknowledged meeting with then-Enron CEO Kenneth Lay last year during the state's energy crisis, but said that he ignored his advice.
During a broadcast of the PBS show "Now With Bill Moyers," Davis said he met with Lay over several months at the request of the Clinton and Bush administrations.

Right!
. . .incredible these Dems (why do I say that. . .they are above nothing. . .)now trying to escape responsibility for their own bad judgements place blame for their energy fiasco on Enron.
Why ask why. . .when it comes to the 'rats' we know why. . .
Maybe I'm missing something here. Lay urged Davis to require the users of electricity to pay for what they used? And Davis didn't take this advice? No wonder the state is in the whole for $14 Billion.
Blame Gray Davis and the other California enemies of capitalism.
And now the rest of the story, Global Crossing?

I did not do the original woirk on these only a slight modification of Seamole's work and Backhoe's work.
Yeh right. I'm sure he ignored a political payoff in the making.
Somehow, I just don't believe the guy. He's too shady.
If Clinton urged the meeting, we know it wasn't for the benefit of the consumers.
"Lay also urged the governor to allow private companies to assume control of the state's power grid and to further deregulate the electric system, Davis said."
Your governor is bragging that he didn't take what is, by any reasonable interpretation, good advice.
If Grayout had followed Lay's advice, California would be in much better shape today -- financially and in terms of energy supply.
Ironic...
here in california there is the pervasive attitude that no one should pay the true value of any commodity, be it electricity, water, milk...etc.
Davis is a true liberal, depending on everyone to bail him out of his bad policy decisions at the end of the day. Too bad, but it appears he will be re-elected, and the situation will only get worse.
Oh, My!!!! I wonder if Congressman Waxman is investigating improper influence peddling at the Sacramento Capitol?? Opps, I forgot, politics requires democrats to be guilty of nothing and only Republicans are to be either (both) found guilty of crimes or made to appear guilty (when they are not). Yes, Enron isn't about corrupt accountants, a corrupt company trying to buy influence and having some politicians being bought, and other politicians just smiling and taking the money, but not offering anything in exchange. This is about Democrats thinking that they have a campaign issue that will stick. (/sarcasm)
Earnest, thanks for the heads up on this one. I have to go back to the Super Bowl now.
